Hi Chris,
I'm in the Hopewell/Princeton area.Of course, I'm willing to travel.Trying to find out if the '68 CE engine & other parts(850 cfm Holley carb, cam, etc.) in my car are truly spec. to L88 standards. I'm a newbie so I really don't know.Any advice?
Jim
P.S. Signing off for now-need to leave the office & go home!

Unless, the original car was an L-88 that blew up under warranty, I don't think that this engine will be an L-88. Unless something very unusual happenend, you would have just gotten a suitable replacement for what was originally in the car and nothing more. If this car was an original 390hp car, then the replacement engine would be a 2-bolt cast crank, piston etc. engine. If it was a 435hp car, then it would have had 4-bolt mains, forged crank, etc., so your really gonna have to look at the car too. I agree with the others on the need for an NCRS expert.

Jim, A possible first step: I would like to see your car and would be willing to go over some numbers with you. (you couldnt pay me) I have the NCRS technical specifications and judging guide, but I am NOT an expert; but what we could do is look at some numbers and see if they are "correct". Don't know if any real experts, like...umm.... let's say.... RowdyRat ... ? would be interested in doing this for a fee. My suggestion would be to check the NCRS schedule and attend a local chapter meet and have the car judged. For the $30 or $45 fee or whatever it is (plus you would have to join NCRS national and chapter - but you should do that anyway), you will have I dont know.... 4? 5? 6? teams of 2 judges crawling all over/under/inside your car. If you tell them what your objective is (ie to learn all you can about your car) and you pay attention and ask questions you will get an incredible amount of info. But you still wont know if your compression ration is 12.5:1.
Even if it is a clone ("fake") and you dont misrepresent the car, I think you can still have it judged at an NCRS meet. (Hopefully we can clear this point up before you enter your car and get kicked off the judging field! oops! )
