MNJack, you could just "drive" your '68. What?, it's only 3058 miles to Monterey. There's also a mid-Atlantic road tour going right by your house from Long Island to CA. :seeya

MNJack, you get 1% judging points for every 100 miles driven, which means you could get 300 points for driving out there added to your score. I doubt at all, I'll go out there. Went to Galveston,TX this past Summer with no car and I won't do it again that way. I'll shoot for Hershey in 2003, and Windsor, Ontario in 2004.

I go every year, but wouldn't 'ya know, this year the organizers are squabbling. The new management of Mazda Raceway (Laguna Seca) has jacked the fee it charges Chris Pook (Very cool dude - LBGP fame & has run this since the start) a bunch and wants half his gate :mad He hasn't decided as of last week if he's going to do it. If he walks, The raceway will run it, but the historic racers (the reason I go) will NOT show. They pretty much stand with Pook on this. It would make for a pretty lame day at the track. The Concours and other events in Carmel are unaffected. The track is still negotiating and I hope they get it together, as this is has been awsome in the past. Doooh! just re-read this and it's Steven Earle, not Chris Pook that has run this from the start... My apologies to both fine gentlemen

Hans

Try the link in my sig for more info about the activities going on. The Historics along with Monterey Del Oro will be the largest west coast corvette event ever.

Just confirmed that Laguna's management and General racing LTD reached agreement on a contract to continue with the operation of the historic races on 12/5. This is great news and means all the car owners will be bringing their cars. Made my reservations today.

Hey Wrencher, if you found a hotel with rooms available why don't you tell the rest of us. Also, don't forget Monterey Del Oro (50yr anniversary event) the week before.

DAWS, I stay at the Marina Motel 6. It's a few hundred yards from a great beach that my wife really likes. The motel is nothing special, but it's reasonable, close to Monterey (5-10 min), and 20 minutes from the raceway. There's a Holiday Inn right on the beach there, if memory serves. They won't take phone reservations 'till 1/02, but you can make them online right now. Also, I can park right outside the door to my room. Now I gotta sign up for the corral! :D
