Is this a good deal for heads or no?
Is this worth it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=598803117
will these heads perform well?
I plan on installing cam, intake, carb, and headers along with them.
what cam, intake, and carb would work well with these? And what can I expect from this setup?
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks for putting up with me fellas, I just can't seem to make up my mind, as soon as I decide on something, it seems like something that might work better comes along. I want to make sure I do it right. Thanks again.
I have a 1978 stock L48, TH350 tranny, and stock gears. THe car will be mostly used for street use, and some trips down the strip every so often.

I just redid my L-48 top half of engine.... my page has specs and mods done.
and dktp dyno and flow numbers..
not sure on your heads...maybe search web for the accurate flow numbers.

the SRT's are good for 355hp w/67cc.
you have to disclose your budget too!
i put them on my 72, but i ported them for 385- 400hp
a lazy guy with money to spend would buy better heads.

I have been running the S/R torquers for a few years now. It's true that other aftermarket heads are a better choice, but for the low cost of them, they work very good. They provide execellent torque and are still much better than any of the older factory castings. They are basicly designed to outperform the older LT1 heads. I wish I had spent a few extra $$ for a better set of heads. Not so much because they are bad, but building anything beyond 400hp in the future will require me to dump more money into them for porting. If you are going to be constantly adding more HP in the future like many of us, then spend a little more now to get something that will work now and it will save you money in the long run.

If those are what they say they are the price in summit is just under $750. if they are better than double hump heads they would be good into the low 400 hp range.
There has been some discussion about heads and cfm flow lately. So if your heads can flow 220 cfm at .500 lift 2 X 220 is ruffly 440 hp potential.

Good heads, yes. But be honest with yourself. How far are you going to take your build-up? If you are like the rest of us, you'll always want more. For the money and versatility, the Sportsman II heads are a good choice. They'll perform well on a mild setup and add more out-of-the-box bolt-on horsepower than the SR Torquers. Then when you want to step up to a bigger or roller cam, the heads are already machined to take bigger springs, unlike the Vortec or SRTs. And the head flows well enough to support a bigger cam or more cubes like a 383 motor. If you are thinking about going with a 383 someday, think Sportsman IIs.
One more thing to consider, it will become tempting to start looking at low priced aluminum heads. But for a bolt-on to an L48 dish piston short block, I would stick with iron heads and use a 9.3-9.6 compression ratio for best utility.
Everyone has an opinion, this is mine.

if you have a potato in your tailpipe you will not get 355hp. Stock the heads top out at 355 if everything else is perfect.(re: CarCraft mag)
