Default Forum vendors - watch out for GM

Hi forum vendors,
I have talked to one of the GM Trademark Infringement Manager today because recently, I just got into the trademark issue with GM about C5 jakes donating to St. Jude hospital.
She told me that GM knows that many vendors on this forum using GM trademark w/o license and I am proud to be the first one got caught by GM
They will start the auditing soon to all forum vendors so I'll just wanna give y'all a head up.
Good luck

-Mike
***BTW, I need to rename my website from www.corvettestripes.com to www.vettestripes.com because I cannot use corvette in my domain w/o license

So did George Lucas have to pay GM some money to name one of the space ships in Star Wars a Corellian Corvette?

Sorry about your issues. I've mentioned it before that yes, GM does take their trademark material seriously.

b.t.w. You weren't the first, Pipedreams was.

We got about $750 donating from forum members for those jakes (maybe more) and I have to report to GM as well. I may have to pay some fee for that $750
I'm happy with it since it is a good thing to do after all

-Mike

Tell them to pound salt.
cor·vette /kɔrˈvɛt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[kawr-vet] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a warship of the old sailing class, having a flush deck and usually one tier of guns.
2. a lightly armed, fast ship used mostly for convoy escort and ranging in size between a destroyer and a gunboat.

They did not invent the word.

How about thegeneralcanKMA.com ? You'd think GM would be flattered, maybe not.

I guess someone now has to pay their high dollar attorneys since the company lost so much money this year.

I agree, the Corvette name has been around for a very long time. GM only has rights when it refers to their car, not the Star Wars Corvette.

i understand that they can limit the use of the logo, or even the logo word "corvette" in the script, but I fail to see how they can stop you from using the word.

Why do they care so much? Arent they flattered they have such a follwing with the automobile, that they would embrace the name being used wherever it could be? GM spends millions a year on advertising trying to brand the market with the names of their models. Just doesnt make sense. Im glad thats all they have to worry about. Bottom line must be doing pretty well.

I think that GM has a lot more to worry about than someone promoting their brand. Lets face it, the more we talk about their product, the more they sell. It is people like Mike that keep us all interested in corvettes, which in turn translates to increased sales for GM in the long run.

Sorry to hear that, your a great vendor and bounce back, let me know if I can help. I was turned in by some members almost 2 years ago. My original site was C6dreams and had to shut that down and start over. I will guarantee it was a competitor or member that turned you in. I know exactly who turned me in (2 members). The jake skull is very protected so it does not surprises me. Forums can be very nasty places with faceless people doing all kinds of things behind your back (as I very well know). I know for a fact that no c6 emblem decals are licensed yet they are all over ebay with many other parts. Like me just start over hence the name NAKIDPARTS

Best part is when I applied for licensing they said I did not do enough business to warrant a license

I learned it's not the word, it's the word and images, script and parts that are for the car.

If they paid this much attention to their motor vehicle build/reliability quality they'd be doing some good for themselves!
