Ganey,
I think you need to start with their equivalent of a zip code, and which province it is to go to. The UPS website might also be helpful

PS: They will probably have to pay "duty" so you might consider a reciept at about 50% of value

Any thing under $40.00 usually comes in duty free Via mail. Especially if it's a gift:) Horn rings are under that :)

Hi , First post for me!
I have received parts from Florida , used Gauge Bezel .The seller shipped it for about 1.75 times, what it would cost in the USA . Manuals , US shipping was 4.00usd , to Canada it was 7.00usd ( mailed ). If the item is insured for a declared value , we pay taxes on that amount, after conversion to cdn$. In our Province Manitoba taxes are 14%. Shipping thru the mail is very slow , at least 10 working days.

Welcome to the forum.

I have only shipped to Canada twice. The PO here in Texas is not accustomed to shipping to Canada & said they do not insure to Canada. The first time guess who was the only one out of 4 PO workers & 1 new guy who could correctly calculate the shipping cost (courtesy of USPS web site)? Had to go to another PO to get it mailed so the guy in Canada would not have to pay much more.

Ganey With my business we get packages from all over the US and a lot of our suppliers really don't like sending to us Via mail as it seems to be to much trouble at the post office. Exactly what you are saying. But many do it for us as it is so much cheaper. 14 days usually min. Plus our Canadian Customs takes a little of that time. It is a good cheap alternative. :)

I would send it by mail. With UPS the recipient has to pay about 23% of the declared value in brokerage fees.

I refuse to buy anything shipped from the US by any other method than USPS. I learned my lesson when I bought a $5 radio **** from a Corvette supplier who shipped it by UPS. The courier fees were $17, the brokerage fees were $25 and the taxes were on top of that....Total cost to me for the $5 item was $47+ US dollars. Items shipped by USPS do not go through brokerage. When I bought my side exhaust kit I had it shipped to a friend in NH and then I drove down and picked it up. The cost of my trip was cheaper than having it shipped here by courier and all the costs associated with that method. NO COURIERS! NO COURIERS! NO COURIERS! :mad :mad :mad

Binnie,
Done that several times. It is infuriating! Only when something is VERY urgent would I do it. US Post Office is slower but just fine for winter parts build-up. They accept parcels up to 66 lbs.

Ganey,
You are better off to mail it to someone who lives in a border city here in the US. Have them cross the border to do some "shopping" and give it directly to Canada Post, or on the flip side, get your Canadian buddy to cross and pick it up. This will save money and tons of time.

Just my .02.

The only problem is the postal code is for Oakville, so he's an hour- hour and a half away from Buffalo.

I would send it USPS and save the money.

Sorry I can't help out with the cost.

Good news, the USPS was able to handle it easily this time & got the same cost from their website & 2 PO workers ! Only $3.75. Another irreplaceable item is on the way to Canada in the hands of unknown US & Canadian postal workers. While I am not enthusiastic about shipping w/o insurance, maybe it is better from 1 aspect for the Canadian guys.

Strongly suggest that all of us in the US should ship to Canada w/o hesitation as they do for us.

I have never had a problem with the US Postal Service. Recommend it.
