Holley Carburetor adjustment
I put a new Holley 4160 Carb with electric choke on my 69 Vette. Car starts up fine but will not idle down after warming up. I checked the electric choke with a meter and I am getting 14.6 volts. If I push on the red cam by hand it will lower the idle but as soon as I touch the gas it revs back up. Any help will be appreciated. I am not that familar with carburators.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Holley Carburetor adjustment (My69)
On the side of the carb with the choke. Look at the black round piece, will say rich/lean I think - loosen up the 3 screws (you don't have to take them out) they hold that snug and turn it one way or another (not alot, just a little bit, you might want to reference directions). You'll see that it controls the choke plate on top of the carb, I assume when hot it's not straight up. That should cure your problem.
I know I'm being vague in the description, but that should point you in the right direction.

Re: Holley Carburetor adjustment (70PurpleLS7)
Thanks 70PurpleLS7:
I will look into that. I keep reading about bend this rod and that. It scares the hell out of me. You are right the plate does not open all the way. If I push the red cam down then it is open fully and idles fine, as soon as I give it gas it starts to idle real high. I appreciate the help.

No offense meant, but maybe your throttle plates are not closing all the
way because of a sticky throttle-cable? Does it return to 'low' rpm, if you
disconnect it?
Happend to me :jester

Mike,
Give me a call, maybe I could meet you over the weekend and take a look if you want.
