Will my old intake work with these new heads?
I have the RPM performer on my 383, with Vortec heads.
I want to put on the AFR 190 heads.
Will these heads fit the Vortec style intake?

Was the edelbrock intake you bought specifically for the Vortec heads? I think the Vortec heads require the intake bolts to come in an a different angle or something. Lot's of new intakes now have the dual bolt mounting flange which allows for use on either style of head. If you've got that your probably okay.

I have one question for you, why would you want to go to the AFR 190's?
The Vortec's flow almost as well as the AFR's do up to .500" lift. and for the money that you are spending on the AFR's you could have the Vortecs CNC'd and have a set of Manley street flos put in.
And to answer your question no the intake you have is vortec specific and the AFR heads have the standard bolt pattern.

Vortech
intake @ .500 lift 239 exhaust 160
AFR 190
intake @ .500 lift 262 exhaust 202
The Vortech flow drops dramaticaly above this lift while the AFR still raises .
The intake will not not work with the AFR's
Look at what these new Edelbrock Etech 200's flow.I have not seen results from actulal running on a motor but the numbers are impressive for the money and your manifold will fit these heads.
