Default Break woes...any Ideas ?

I replaced the break pads on the 73 and once I got done with all 4 sides I had noticed that the caliper bots on the back 2 calipers had worked themselves loose from the last time that I had worked on the rear. Has anyone had your caliper mounting bolts back out by themselves? When I test drove after the pad replacement, I heard this almost clunk and low toned squeek when I backed out of the drive and also when I turned in a circle. I did notice that the parking break is not holding for foward motion but is holding for rear motion...2 mo. earlier I had repaired the park break and it held in both directions...do you think that my park break components on the left side might have failed in some way ? :smash:

Skruball73..
Regarding the caliper bolts coming loose.
Try new lock washers, and possibly new bolts. I replaced the bolts on mine
with grade 12 bolts.
Torque to spec and they should never come loose. As far as I know this is
not a problem with Corvette brakes.

As for the parking brake problem, you may have to "go in" and have a look.
You could have a broken spring or almost anything.

My experience is that if you have all the parts in good condition and
adjusted, the brake will work well for many many years.

daily driver is right on the money there. The torque spec for the calipers is 70 lbs. You may want to use a little light or medium grade thread lock on them. Nothing to heavy though or you will have a h*ll of a time breaking them free when you have to get in there again.

Did you clean the threads good before reinstalling the caliper bolts? Sometimes dirt can make you think the bolt is tight when its not!
