Default Windsheld frame

Refinishing my windsheld frame and wanted to know if the VIN plate gets paint or is left unfinish.

John,

Actually HOW the VIN plate was painted is still open for conjecture. Some people feel the plate was delivered already painted, others say it was painted at the same time the windshield frame was blacked out... Still others say both statements are true. Regardless of the actual procedure, the VIN plate WAS painted with a low gloss black paint at some point in the assembly process.

If you like, I can forward some photos which detail the extent of the blackout on the windshield frame.

Regards,

John,

I had forgotten that these photos of my 1970 Corvette's windshield frame/VIN plate were already up on Juliet's 1970 Registry site...

From the appearance on this particular car, it may be that the plate was already on the windshield frame when it was blacked out... There didn't appear to be any paint under the VIN plate from what I could tell.

Unfortunately, these photos are a little washed out... I'll try to get something with more detail this evening.

Regards,
