Christmas Suggestion-C3 Models
Just a gift suggestion for the price of less than an SS caliper. C3 models. This is a UT 1:18 1978 Pace Car and they are very accurate, right down to the innards of the engine and exhaust. But beware, I gave one to the nine-year-old son of a friend last year and he built a garage under his bed for it, does vroom-vroom noises every morning before breakfast, and has a 1/4 strip laid out (in-scale) on his bedroom floor. Too much TV I guess. Now he wants to get a McJob to buy one when he turns 16. His Mother and I are still friends nevertheless. I do worry, however, about a McVette on EBay in several years. Seriously, they are high quality and wonderful gifts for those who own and those who dream as many of us did before becoming owners.

Re: Christmas Suggestion-C3 Models (paul79)
theres a blown 69 at walmart, yellow car on the front... havent opened the box to findout how its made, but sure does look cool.
I always have liked models, especially remote controlled planes and such... i bought one a while back, fixed the wing. But i'm a little chicken about crashing the thing, first time i fly it, yah know what i mean. Its kinda like being weary yet excited when your about finished with a project.

Paul, I ordered a 78' black in the 1/18 scale from UT models. They also have the 78' in the two tone silver , red, ad I believe there is a yellow. My uncle's kid salivates over it. Too bad the boxes don't say 1979 corvette. Check out a company called THE COLLECTORS GUILD at http://www.diecastbymail.com They have some nice vettes and are not stingy about sending out catalogs.

You can't find a 1979 anywhere :( . I have the 1978 Silver Anniversary edition as shown below. I was thinking of stripping a 1978 Pace Car with spoilers down to gelcoat  and repainting code 59 Light Corvette Beige.

I bought the yellow 78, took it apart, painted the interior to match mine, painted wheel center sections, painted molding around rear glass, and then very carefully cut the 25th anniversary part off the front and rear emblems. Use an exacto knife around the crossed flags and then just peel away the rest of the emblem. No digital camera or I'd take pics.

Apparently you are correct. UT may have discontinued that model. You may wish to try here.
