Anyone use Gibbs Brand Penetrant to preserve aluminum wheels?
Gibbs Brand Protectant has been recommended to me as something that will keep new, unpainted aluminum wheels looking new. Here is the link to the product: http://www.roadsters.com/gibbs/
Any of you guys know about this stuff as a protectant for aluminum, whether wheels or not? The properties as described in the web site sound wondrous.

It sure does sound that way. I called the vendor and he was quite sincere about this product's good properties--he was not aggressive at all about selling, and related several examples of how this product has worked for guys over the past few years. I ordered a couple of spray cans.

Gibbs Oil is good stuff. I use it on my magnesium wheels to keep them semi shiny between polishings. Nothing sticks to the wheels at all. Road tar, brake dust, salt, it all just wipes right off.

Sudden thought: if nothing sticks to this stuff, how do you get polish on the wheels?

It's good to get more than one opinion about this wonder liquid. My two cans will be arriving in a few days and I'll sure be interested in seeing how it performs on my new wheels.
Painting over it still gives me pause. The online blurb doesn't describe Gibbs as an OIL it just says PENETRANT, so it must be a different category of stuff. The blurb also doesn't say to remove the Gibbs before painting, just to wipe away any surface excess. Anyone know what this stuff is made of?

I painted the center of my wheels after using this stuff for years and just used normal prep. The paint has stuck for probably 10 years or so.
I don't wipe it on the paint, but in my experience it works great on bare aluminum and magnesium.
