Default Wiring up a 75 electric tach?

I am finally putting the dash back together, and I don't how to wire up the new electric tach. Zwede told me once, but I can't find the note. Can someone please tell me how to wire up the three terminals on the back of the tach? I know one goes to the HEI, one is switch 12V, and the other ground, but I don't know which is which. Anybody that's done the conversion, I could definitely use the help.

Thanks
Ken

I am of no help to you but I am interested in the answer. I have an HEI and no tach. I am thinking of the swap. Are the faceplates a different color?

Thanks,

The faces were different on mine. I modified mine to fit, but it's a tricky job. I'm thinking I would have been better off spending the extra money on the MSD or the tach drive HEI; it saves the hassle of taking the dash apart. Too late for me, but keep it in mind if you haven't bought any parts yet.

Thanks Zwede. Without looking I posted another topic calling you. Thanks for the help and this time I'll write it down.

Ken

Old info from Markus

Looking at the tach there are 2 terminals next to each other, with one below it. The bottom one is tach signal from the ignition coil (or tach terminal on a HEI) straight above is the 12v feed from the ignition switch. The one lone terminal to the side is ground.

If you have a Haynes manual you can see it on page 12-35

Regards

Ray

Thanks guys. This rebuild has taken forever, and it's possible the beast could be started tonight, but not without your help. I'm just getting ready to leave work and continue putting in the dash. The HEI looks great sitting in the engine bay. One of these days I will finally post some pics; I tried to set up a web page and ran into problems. I think that's because I was using the connection at work. Anyway, thanks for the information.

Ken
