Default Hot Cam for ZZ3?

I have an 80 with a ZZ3 and a 3:07 rear. I've added Twisted Wedge heads, a Carb Shop Stage II Quadrajet, headers and a high-flow cat. I've heard good things about the Hot Cam, and I'm considering upgrading.
The car is street-driven only so I need to know: 1)will I lose much low and midrange torque with this cam?
2)any chance it'll still pass emissions (it currently does now - barely)
Thanx!

Default Re: Hot Cam for ZZ3? (MWILLET)

Since nobody responded, I figure I'd share my experience with this cam. I had the LT4 HOT cam and rockers (Crane gold) in my '94 LT1. The only other mods were long tube headers w/cats, Borla mufflers, and a cold air intake. Here are the results from the dyno (values at the rear wheels)
---Measured-- - - -Corrected- - -
Engine T P T P Time
RPM ft-lb hp ft-lb hp (sec)
1600 RPM Data not available
2350 316.7 141.7 324.5 145.2 0.00
2600 315.5 156.2 323.3 160.0 0.55
2850 316.8 171.9 324.6 176.1 1.09
3100 326.3 192.6 334.3 197.3 1.62
3350 334.5 213.4 342.8 218.6 2.14
3600 339.1 232.4 347.4 238.1 2.66
3850 339.3 248.7 347.6 254.8 3.16
4100 337.5 263.5 345.8 269.9 3.67
4350 334.4 276.9 342.6 283.7 4.19
4600 329.2 288.3 337.3 295.4 4.71
4850 325.7 300.7 333.7 308.1 5.23
5100 317.9 308.7 325.7 316.3 5.77
5350 307.2 312.9 314.7 320.6 6.33
5600 298.1 317.9 305.4 325.7 6.90
5850 284.2 316.6 291.2 324.3 7.49
6100 272.9 317.0 279.6 324.8 8.12

Since the torque is 324 (about 375 at the flywheel) at 2300 RPM, I don't think this cam gives up much on the low end.

I cannot comment on emissions as it was never tested.
