Anybody ever have the oil press. sender leak?
I think mine is leaking. I have a pretty serious leak at the back of the engine and it seems to be the sender. I'm certain it's not the valve cover or the oil pan. Anyone else have a similar problem?

not on the vette, my suburban did just that . Started as a slow seep and finally just spewed oil. If I remeber right about $40 for the sender.

Mine leaks pretty bad. I had about a quart inside the car, under the console. I fixed the inside but haven't done the outside yet. Easy fix with a new line fitting.

burners, leaking oil pressure sending units are common on most all vehicles, not just vettes. They are a metal can molded around a ceramic insulator, so heating, cooling, and pressure eventually take their toll. Chevy small blocks have their sending unit either at the top back of the block or the left side just above the oil filter. Unless you are concerned with total originality you can get a replacement at the chain parts stores for $10-$15. Hershey :chevy :chevy :chevy

Yeah, mine ended up being the fitting. The '79 has a fairly long brass adapter fitting, mine cracked dumping quarts fairly quickly. Couldn't find the long adapter, so bought a short one. Not as convienent to work on but oh well.

In my 25 years of driving I bet I have had 4 oil pressure sending units go bad in various makes of vehicles.

i found that NAPA carries the exact part for 10 smackers....

I replaced my old sender with a new one and still had a leak. A little teflon tape around the threads and no leak!!!
