The 75 is finally in the paint shop.
Today was the day. The 75 is finally in the paint shop. Along with PPG DBU #74 Dark Red & PPG Concept 2012 Clear coat. Waiting in the living room is new Deluxe door panels, new door handles & mirrors, new emblems and L-82's and Stringray name. Hopefully only one week in the paint shop and another week to put it all back together again and it will be DONE! All in all I have owned this 75 for one year in two weeks. I'm right at $10,000 in restroation cost. Add the $7,500 I paid for it for a grand total of $17,500. Not too bad for a hot running 350 with a total interior restroation and a complete strip, sand and paint. Heck I'm not bitching, that's only half of what I paid for my Acura!!!!

Sounds great Paul! I'm waiting along with a lot of other "pre-painters" to get a look at the finished product. I also like any guy who keeps his new parts in the living room.... That's where my stuff sits until it's ready to go too!
Good Luck

I've got to get the car back and those new door panels out from under the Xmas tree before Xmas for Santa might take them for his own Corvette!

Hi Paul
My 75 is in the paint shop also. Delivered it to him on Oct 22. Stopped by the other day to drop off new GM door handles for him to install when all is done and noticed the car was in the far rear of the shop. He showed me the work he is doing on it. He is grinding out the bonding area and replacing with new fiberglass. He stripped the car completely down and I am confident he is doing an excellent job. I asked him when I can realistically expect the car finished. His reply was I have it for you just before XMAS and I'll put a large bow on it for you. The good thing about this whole episode is that he is only charging me 3500 for the whole thing. In NJ I think that's a decent price. Hope yours turns out the way you want.

Re: The 75 is finally in the paint shop. (Vetteboy)
I looked the West Palm Beach area over and over for a trusted painter. Prices ranged ( just for BC/CC) from $800 to $2,000. Finally a friend of mine that's the President of the Antquie Car Club here (Model A's and etc.) told me about this guy. He's spraying the BC/CC for $600 and I bought the paint (paint was $450). He also thought that one of the bonding strips didn't feel smooth so he's going to fix that for $200, for a grand total of $800. I think it's a steal. He just finished a Cappy Apple Brandywine paint job that I thought looked great. He's a one man shop, does all of the work himself.
