DID I GET SCREWED BY WWW.AUTOBODYPARTSONLINE.COM. $120 FOR SHIPPING?
I FOUND THE FOLLOWING PARTS FOR MY, HERE IT COMES. A GEO
HOOD: $60
TURN SIGNAL: $12
FRONT L 1/4 PANEL: $121
ALL EQUALS $193. THE CHEAPEST I FOUND ON THE NET: BUT, YOU EXPECT TO PAY SHIPPING TOO, CORRECT?
HOW ABOUT ADDING ANOTHER $120 THRU FEDEX FROM CA TO NC? GOOD GOD.
THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF: ITS BEING SHIPPED BY AIR, AND THE PACKAGING REQUIRED FOR A HOOD AND 1/4 PANEL
I THINK I WAS TAKEN.

This spring I shipped a Gibson Les Paul in case with $2000 insurance FedEx 2nd day air from Virginia to New York. That's a rather large package that weighed about 25 lbs. With our company discount it cost me $36.00

Sounds a bit high but the shape and size of the parts probably ran it up. I bought one quart can of fiberglass filler
from Ecklers and pair $15 for it to be shipped via ground....!

I think a headsup/ warning would have been nice. Maybe a choice of shipping method. Why not ask them if you were charged actual shipping costs? If they marked it up 100% I would say you were ripped off. If they merely passed on actual costs (+$10 or so) then it was something else. Also check with Fedex.
Maybe (maybe not) a comparable situation is GMpartsdirect.com. They offer very low prices but high shipping/handling. This bothered me at first, but they explain that their profit is in fact their shipping/handling fees and they clearly disclose these fees when you go to check out. So the entire cost of the order is shown to you before you approve it. I strongly object to unseen add-ons after you place the order. MJ

MELVIN, you can get the actual price from http://www.fedex.com if you know the approx. size and weight of the package. $120 sounds very high for ground shipment.

Sounds about right to me for a hood and 1/4 panel. It's the size of the boxes and distance. I was going to order a fiberglass headliner for my Z28, and because of the size of the box, it had to be shipped via truck freight from California to connecticut. Cost...$100. I still have my old headliner.

Bought a set of running boards for my 2001 Dodge Durango. Were sent from Michigan in 2 boxes. The boxes were both LONG and HEAVY. Don't know exactly how heavy, but each running board was probably 25+ pounds, and each box was over 6 feet long. Cost about $100.00 to ship them UPS ground. Chuck
