Custom Grills W/ Foglights and Signals.
Well I have them assembled and tested. I have yet to do a test fit and see how they look in the front of the car, and then I have to take them apart, paint the bezels, and maybe toy with S/S mesh sections in some of the openings. I like the wide open dark behind them look.
The signals started out as foglights, similar to the actual foglights. I opened them up, mounted 1157 sockets, installed some nice multi LED bulbs, and cut some round amber plastic lenses out of a pair of reflectors.
Overall I am very happy, and can't wait to see how they look in the car.

Yeah, I have had foglights there before and they really do help a lot. I tested the signals in the dark and the two intensities really are very obvious.
The bezels started out as new for '77, but I cut out all the fixed louvers, leaving only enough to support the lights, and all the mounting positions.

Yeah, they don't stick back any further than the stock '77 signal housing. I checked that when I first started looking into the project. That, and even if it were close when I get my fixed headlights installed it won't be an issue.

DB,
Those are comming out very nice Do you think there is a need to reinforce the upper and lower plastic that you are mounted to. I was thinking to avoid any cracking you may want to consider some strips of sheet metal on the outside edge so not to be seen. The strips coud be epoxied on.

I will have to see how they react when mounted. The bezels are quite stiff even when outside the car. There are three mounting points and I plan to use a forth location in the outside corner above the foglight into the un-used lip above the bezel. Once it's in I will be able to test for rigidity. I will also be lining the outside edge of the bezel with weather stripping for a nice snug fit in the grill opening. I will have pics in a bit.

Here are some pics. I KNOW the paint is bad and the car still needs minor body work. Ha ha. I still have to paint the bezels, apply the weather stripping to the bezels, and install the fourth mounting point.

I'm thinking about it. I really like the wide open look, with nothing but darkness back there. It will look even better once they are painted, and I will decide then if a mesh will help or hurt the look I'm after.

I think I'd put a flat plate around the lights and a loose mesh behind the rest, but that's just me.
Matt, are you hearing the thunder that just rolled in? A thunderstorm, in Missouri, in January. Weird.

Thanks guys. They look just like how I wanted them. Vision to reality.
Yeah man, I was in the garage working on Curt's engine and the storm came through. Horizontal rain is fun when it's blowing right into the garage.

I got water in the garage, again, due to that plugged storm drain. And my trash can ended up almost three doors away. The weather around here has been getting bizzare for the past few years.
