Re: Oil Pressure (Duke94)
What is it at idol? I read some where thwat it should be about 40psi at 2000rpm. what type and grade are you using? 10W40 is what I use. What temp is the motor running at. The higher it runs at may be the problem(if there is one). in the hot summer months I use straight 40W

Re: Oil Pressure (redwingvette)
On my 1970 BB, im running at 50 psi once its fully warmed up at 2000 rpms . I use 0W30 synthetic year round. I run a cool engine : 160 degree stat , fresh air intake, twin electric fans set for 190 on and 180 off, and twin oil coolers.

Re: Oil Pressure (Duke94)
oil pressure is 25 PSI at idle (750 RPM) warmed up (160 degrees) and 30 PSI at 2000 RPM. Doesn't sound like much of a spread.

Re: Oil Pressure (Duke94)
Down here in FL with 20W50, I run about 35-40 PSI warmed up at idle and around 55-60 at 2000 rpm's. I think this is higher than it needs to be though. I do not know what the minimum requirements are.

Re: Oil Pressure (79MakoL82)
Duke94...I think your pressure is ok. Mine, running 20W50 runs about 25 at hot idle and upper end of the scale at high rpm or "cold" oil.
