Stick with it Mack...you can do it mate.
I've never smoked but I see the effects they have on people every day and it's not for me.
One of my work mates was so addicted he had to wear a nicotine patch just so he could sit through a movie!
Hang in there.

Welcome back Mack and good luck on quitting. I'd quit too, but they'd have to start another war. Land of the Afgan's wouldn't be big enough for both of us. Two old soldiers on withdrawl..... not a pretty site. :nonod:

Glad to have you back!
My dad smoked for most of his life. One day he had a heart attack and decided "well, that's enough of these for me." I'm proud of him, he hasn't touched them since. He's a vet too, (4 yrs in 'nam) and doesn't scare easily. One's health can be a great motivator.
Don't ever be afraid to give advice. Sure some turn their heads thinking "old guy what does he know" but some listen.

I'm behind you Mack. I haven't had a smoke in 3 1/2 years. You're to the point now that you can't start up again. It's all going to get better from here. The worst part of quitting is over, and if you were to start again all the suffering would be for nothing. Pretty soon you will have the once a day craving, then it will be the once a week craving, and so on. YOU CAN DO IT! We're all behind you. :flag

Hey Mack,
My dad did 18 months infantry in Korea. Wounded twice.... one tough SOB.
But he dropped dead of a heart attack at 58 and I miss him terribly. Here's the short version. The doc at his autopsy said he had the arteries of an 85 year old man... all due to smoking. His grandsons would have loved to get a hug from him this past Thanksgiving. Stop smoking now. Good Luck.

Things are gettin' worse... I went to the Dr. yesterday for a follow-up. He said, "Well, you've got a good start on the smoking, so now I'm going to put you on a low fat/low cholesterol diet." :U He gave me a list of things to eat and things to avoid. It looks like the rule here is: "Put it in your mouth. If it tastes good, spit it out." 'Course, that's O.K., 'cause I'm not allowed to eat enough to tell what it tastes like anyway... Three ounces of "meat" (chicken ain't meat... STEAK is meat!) ain't enough to fill up a fork. :nonod:
