Default Has anyone painted their TPI setup and valve covers black?

I have been thinking about painting my block, TPI plenum/runners, and valve covers black. I dont want to powdercoat them. Has anyone done this? What kind of spray paint did you use? If you have, can you please post pictures? Thanks, Zak.

Edit: Also, can anyone tell me the proper steps to prep this for paint? Zak.

I talked to my uncle about this and he told me what he used is semi gloss caliper paint out of a spray can. How do you think this would turn out?

The valve covers aren't black and it's powdercoat but you will get an idea of what it would look like.

I remember a pic of a setup where the plenum and valve covers were painted black with the ribs buzzed off back to bare aluminum. And, the runners were aluminum.

Make the runners polished aluminum and you'd have nice contrast.

It's the 3rd best combo I've seen (next to all chrome or all polished).

Search for powercoat, plenum, and valve covers. See what you get.

Here is a paint job I did 4 years ago. Dirty I know. I will be swapping new valve covers and another injection in there so it will all change.

I used black "crinkle coat" out of a rattle can on my TPI. I think it was Rustoleum. The valve covers are aftermarket.

Good question. I would like to paint my valve covers and the intake cover yellow since my vette is yellow. What kind of paint is safe for this and where can I find it?
Thanks for any advice

Go to your auto parts store if you want to use a rattle can and you'll be fine. They'll have high heat paint there, but the yellow may not match up exactly the same as your car. You can even go to somewhere like Home Depot and get some high heat Rustoleum in a rattle can.

Batmobile, my intake manifold, runners, and plenum will be available in a couple months if you might be interested. I am presently porting another tpi to replace mine.

Hey, I like the way yours turned out. My car is all black and silver, so I was wanting to paint the indentions of the plenum and valve covers silver on top of the black (like you did with orange). What kind of paint did you use to do this? Also, how did you do it? Thanks, Zak.

Does anyone know what kind of paint to use to paint the indentions on the plenum and valve covers? Thanks, Zak.

How hard do you think it would be to tape off the indentions and spray them?
