Who has their original spare tire?
Just curious as to the survival rate of original spares. There are quite a few low mileage Vettes out there so I expect there should be quite a number of original tires around.

My car's high mileage and I still have what I'm sure is the original spare. Old Firestone radial that looks like it was never put on the car. It'll still even hold air...for like a day or two:lol: . This thread reminds me I have to get something in that carrier that'll be useful in case I get a flat. :)

I have mine (currently sitting in the garage). It's tough to tell, but it looks like it's seen a few miles. I guess I'll look closer at the lug holes, maybe that'll give a clue.

At least I'm not the only one with no idea. I can't get mine off. :D

I almost fall into 2 categories with my 81. It has the original spare, obviously never been mounted. But, when I went to begin my frame off and remove it, the lock, and bolt and the whole works was rusted together, and had to take some torch heat to get it off. Oh well, it comes off now, so I know I have a spare if I need one. :yesnod:

Original but I don't think I'd ever use it!
Its sitting in my mom's garage, collecting dust along with other original parts(not many)

Have the original Firestone radial spare. Had to use once. Off the car now since the 255/60R15's won't fit in the carrier even when flat.

Mine is one of the original tires. It has been used.
I dumped the originals not long after buying the car. Kept one as a spare.
It's a Goodyear Speedway F-70-15, 2-ply Nylon. (No belts), (no radial)
The handling/traction, well, need I say more.

I have the original spare for my '78. It looks like it's never been mounted, considering I had to cut the lock off the tire carrier I'm not surprised. Still holds air but I don't think I'd trust it.

The spare is original as well as four original Goodyear Steelgards on the car during the summer. I have another set of rims, tires, trim rings and caps. That is what the car gets stored with.

I'm not sure if mine is the origianl, but it sure is ancient.
It's a Goodyear (Custom) Steelgard GR 70-15. It will definitely never go on my car.
One thing I was wondering tho is how many out there actually run without the spare tyre in place at all?

I have the original spare on my 78 vette. Funny thing is that it is yellow, the rim that is.

"I have one, it looks right, it's a little worn but still legal"
Hehehe... mine was holding air pressure, and I was thinking, "itzalright, should be good enough to take me to the nearest garage, if I ever need it"....
Here's what happened spontaneously to the tire, while sitting in the garage:
Damn Firestone! :D
