Passenger Side Chrome Mirror Poll
I recently put a passenger side mirror on my car http://users.erols.com/jerryp58/corv...ightmirror.htm and have noticed many others have done the same. So, I'm kind of curious about the group's thoughts about this.

Mine doesn`t have one but I think it should. I really miss that mirror when I am out driving. I didn`t realize that I used that mirror as often as I do.

I already bought one, just waiting for the paint job before I install it.

Where do I get one?
Here's the pricing I've found:
Eckler's $71.99
MAD $59.99
Corvette America $69.00
Eckler's also listed a "bracket kit" for $16.99. Is this needed as well?
MAD talks about "small" and "large" versions. Which is right for the 72?

I also installed one on my 74. I decided to buy a set of small head ones and changed both. I didn't think it would look good with two large ones. I now wish I would have gone with large heads. Yours looks good. No matter how I adjust mine I dont seem to get a real good view. I kept original large head maybe I'll change to them. How is your view with two large head mirrors.
I agree with the 30 mins to install. Problem was drinking enough beer and measuring 4o times before I had the wevos to drill holes. Later
I caught mirrors on sales last year at Corvette central 79.00 for set:flag

Mine didn't come with one from the factory and I've kind of grown attached to not having a passenger side mirror, believe it or not. Any time I take someone for a ride, undoubtably the question always arises as to the whereabouts of my passenger side mirror. :) I have no intentions of putting one on unless it's going to add 15-30 horsepower ;)

Re: Passenger Side Chrome Mirror Poll (foundvettelifeisgood)
foundvettelifeisgood, I got my RH Large from Zip for $59.99. I could have gotten the pair for $99.99 and probably should have. The new one looks so much better than the old (light pitting). I can measure my large one if you like, but I don't know which is "right" for a '72. In fact, I don't know if there is technically a "correct" one for '72. I've always understood that if these were installed at all, it was at the dealership, but I don't know if it was available all the way back to '68 or not though  I thought I had read that it was also done at the dealership in later years, but I've never seen an RPO for it. The sport mirrors showed up as a dealer option in '77 (RPO D35) and became the standard equipment in '80 if I'm reading the Black Book correctly.
Bob, I think I have pretty good visibility with the two large heads. I mostly use the two of them just for a feeling of what's around me. If I'm changing lanes, I'll almost always turn my head anyway. But, the RH mirror has definitely brought a small blind spot (caused by the "wing") into view.
bence, I got the same question about where my passenger mirror was. And I have to admit, it still looks a little abnormal to see both on there. But I do like the symetry. I doubt I'm getting much more than 1/2 HP out of it though :D

It would be real helpful to know the size differences if you guys don't mind measuring them. I'd like to know which size I have on my car.
Anyone know if the bracket kit is needed or does the mirror come with everything that's needed?
Thanks.

I bought a mirror a year ago when I bought the Vette. I just don' t have the heart to drill two holes in the 27 year old body. I did install the right hand mirror on my first '73 Vette back in '79.

Re: Passenger Side Chrome Mirror Poll (jerryp58)
It wasn't that long ago that most cars did not have them. My father taught me to drive as if it wasn't there even if there was one there.
I learned to keep my rear view mirror tilted very far to the right. I can pick up everything right behind me and a very good amount of vision to the right. Most people keep that mirror in such a position that the right side of it is picking up what is directly behind them. I see what is directly behind me in the keft side of it. Try it, you might like it.
I never crave a right side in a small car. Occasionally I like it in a large car.

As you might have noticed in a previous post, I just installed one this past weekend. I got the large head pasngr side mirror from Zip for $59.00 and the mounting kit was included. Riks catalog has the exact same deal. Hard to believe the mounting kit alone goes for $16 elsewhere. Great fit, precise instructions, and quality mirror. Traffic here dictates the need for two mirrors and I like the look of two also. I wanted dual sport mirrors, but they're way too expensive.

I think the chrome mirrors are a total waste of time, very frustrating to keep adjusted, some excuse, but it ain't right when you need it, which when driving is NOW....not after I find it's out again.....SO
I mounted further forward on the door two mid '70's streamlined mirrors, like off an A or B body car....much better....
now about visability....easy,....use the 4" diameter bubble mirror like trucks and schoolbusses use....MUCH safer, and NO blindspot....takes some getting used to, but once that is done, never be without one again.......

Mine has the optional mirror on it. With the convertible, visibility isn't that big a problem on the right (especially with the top down :D ), but there's bad blind spot on the drivers side with the top up :yesnod: .
