Default Ended the season with a new best

While I only beat my previous best (11.24) by .04 it was nice to get a new best on the last day of the season. What I was really pleased with was with the consistency at which I ran. Those that know about my learning experiences over the last year know what I mean. It was great to put a good string of consistent runs together. With a previous best of 11.24@123 I headed to Atco and ran....

11.23
11.21
11.24
11.22
11.201
11.204

all at 123mph.

The last two were heartbreakers. I was really hoping to get into the 11.1xs today considering that the air was really good. My car just didn't respond to the good air like I was hoping. Not bad for a total street car. I guess I will have to wait til next spring to get into the 10s. (your time is offically safe for the winter Fartpipe)

By far the 'most consistent car' award at Atco yesterday goes to Nick and his badass black C5.

Oh and I'm pretty sure you pulled the front wheels even higher yesterday than ya did at the track rental on Tuesday so check the Dave Milcarek site for some pics later today.

It's good to see improvements...even if fractional...when the weather allows it.

I'm still perplexed by the low MPH for your H/C car given the conditions yesterday. I recall a certain cam only car trapping well over 126 MPH some 3 years ago with a D/A not nearly as good as yesterday.

Im as confused as you. I went out looking to see some good improvements cause of the DA. I ended up gaining next to nothing cause of it. Maybe my car like it warmer??? I am sure I am leaving a little on the table with a rough launch and some shifting that could be faster but still, I feel I was more consistant than the rental day and ran the same times.

Now I gotta wait months to get back out there and figure it out

Could you post up some details of one of your 11.2 passes and your 11.02 pass? I want to see where you gained your time from the 2 runs.

This one is your problem of why you didnt hit the 11.1x. It was right there!!! Take a look at the prev runs 330ft and 1/8th. My guess is it came apart with the 3-4 shift. It either happened later (earlier would've resulted in a higher MPH with slower ET), or just not as quick as you have been doing. I think your driving at this point in time on the shifts is superior to my own in the corvette. I think AlexV can attest to that. I agree at this point I'm the one holding my car back from running 10.9's at 127mph. My car does have 20rwhp more then yours and weighs less aswell. Plus I'm better looking just ask Alex We both will have more to come in the spring Nick, great job this year.

MINE

60ft-1.585
330ft-4.697
1/8th-7.238

Nice, I knew there would be some good ones of Nick's car on there!

How about this guy, did he pull the wheels at all?

My run in the first column compared to your 11.2 and then my run compared to your 11.0. My advantage on the 60' in the first run carried to about the 1000' mark where you closed the gap slightly. Looks like my shifting held the 60' advantage until the 1000' mark, then your HP and weight advantage took over and started to run me down.

On my 11.20 run compared to your 11.02 run it looked like you just walked away from me after the 60'. I lost over a tenth by the 1/8th to you dispite similar 60's. That kind of time by the 1.8th has to be lost in shifting, right?

The first run looks like my shifting held you off and on the second run it looks like you just flat out walked away from me, maybe better shifting on that run for you and with the weight and HP andvantage I had no chance of catching up.

Any of that sound about right? Your right, this comparison thing is fun

See it helps to figure out where you lose and gain things and what needs to happen to net the results you need. Plus if you F'up a pass and say you miss 3rd gear you can get a decent idea of what kind of run you were to have. This is why I always ask for details on people that are in a similar time bracket/mod/class.
I agree with your conclusions aswell

Dude, you gave a slight little correction/veer to the left/right up the track on that pass (Dennis and I had that happen once or twice that day as well), that could've been an 11.19 right there.

That may have done it. My car was moving around a lot that day. Cold up the track I guess? After watching that video I know the car has at least 11.1s in it. My 1-2 shift was very very slow on that run. I have to learn to speed that up. I know the 1-2 is important in relation to ET. So I have to wonder how much ET am I losing due to a slow 1-2 shift

One-two shift is critical to good ET's.
I always keep my right hand on the shifter until I shift into forth, then its back to both hands on the wheel.
