"Newbee" Introduce myself
Hello Guys and Gals
I am new to this forum, I have spent the last couple day`s reading almost all the post in the C3 catagory and have learned allot from you all. I figured I would jump on here and introduce myself and tell you all a little about me and my project. I live in Palm Bay FL which is just south of Melbourne. I am married with 5 children 4 girls and finally a boy (9 months old).
I had a 1980 vette that was pretty abused by the previous owner, and I really liked it but there was that feeling that if I try to restore it I won`t ever finish it. It had allot of rust that was hidden ie. windshield frame, frame around trailing arms, floors "BAD". So I got a wild hair to buy a good wrecked car and restore one without rust.
So onto ebay I went... Well I found a RED 76 pretty good hit on the front end but I could see the damage and the rest of the car looked real good. I new the frame was bent, but I had the thoughts it could be straightened okay. I was the top bidder for 6 out of the 7 day auction at $2,500. Until the last 3 minutes then the battle with a guy in Alabama started, well he won. He won at $3,200. But he was a Dead beat bidder so the owner called and to make a long story short the car is in my garage. And my wife was PISSED!!! Now I had pretty much the equivalent of two pieces of junk in the garage. But I had and Idea... strip the 80 keep what I need to fix the 76 and sell the rest of the 80 on ebay. To shorten this story I did just that. And ended up selling the parts for a pretty good amount of money when the whole thing was over. So I have all the parts I need to repair the 76, except that the frame the body shop told me once they got the car on their rack said is unrepairable!!! On the phone and when the guy came to my house said he could staighten ANYTHING!!! Well I now have a frame sitting at the Southeastern freight terminal in Orlando, that I am going to pick up Monday. I have allot of work to do yet but I cannot wait to be driving this car. I have not figured out how to attach pics to my sig or to a post. Can someone help me and I will put a pic or two on here. I really look forward to joining the conversations on this forum. I know this is long I promise not to do it again.. :) Thanks Bob Espersen

Welcome Aboard Bob! This is a great forum and a great bunch of folks.
Best of luck on the frame work. That is way beyond my skills and I envy you guys that can do that stuff.
Check out my sig for 76 Registry if you would like to add your name to the list. I haven't updated it in a bit but intend to revamp the entire registry after Dec 28 as I will be retiring and have a lot more time on my hands.
Again, glad to have you here.

Sounds like you've got a lot of work (fun) ahead of you!
Did the '76 you bought come with the '80 rear end or did you put that on there from the '80 you had?

Greetings and welcome..
Sounds like you have a "fun" project ahead of you. Just think when it's done and you take that first spin.
FYI - Corvette forum offers free web sites for members. You could post pics of the progress if you wanted and include one in a post now and then.
Other than that, ask away and enjoy. Bunch of great people here. Have helped me more times than I can count in the last couple of years.
Joe..

I purchased that Bumper cover over the internet, the one that was on my 80 was cracked took a light tap in the back end.I like the look of the spoiler better than without. I am putting the front clip from the 80 onto this car, as all the frame extentions and mounting braces were damaged on the 76. It would cost a fortune to replace all the damaged parts and buy another from clip to bring the body back to complete 76. I am keeping all the damaged parts and will attempt to repair them down the road and look for a 76 front clip. As it is going now it will be an inbread car. I think it will turn out looking good. The old GM engineers will wonder why they did not put that front and rear clip on the old "sugar scoop".
