why in the world is my radiator hose.....

I sounds like when a car gets hot when shut off, and tries to suck coolant back in from the overlow. Is your rad cap good?

mine did the exact same thing but i was lucky, it finally exploded as i was leaving my drive way one day so i would recommend replacing some radiator hoses and while your doing that go ahead and do the thermostat while your in there    :jester

Dwayne makes sense. Do you have a working overflow tank? (Also called a coolant reservoir). The coolant nedd some place to go when hot and then will refill as it cools.

i think the overflow can works. i could be wrong. how do i know if it is the cap or the hose or the overflow can?

This will also happen if the radiator cap is rated at the wrong pressure. If it takes too much pressure to "open" it and allow overflow into the tank, it will close too quickly to allow the radiator to draw the overflow back in, thus creating that vacuum and collapsing the hose.
The other possibility is that the overflow hose is clogged. This would keep the water from being overflowed or drawn back. It also seems like I have heard that a stuck thermostat would cause that also, but I have no personal experience.
Hope this helps.

Aaron ( <= that's right isnt it?) I have the blue 68 convertible. Only made one pass and had fuel starvation issue (we think) resulted in 16.5 sec pass! I was hanging mostly with other sharks, ie Mike69 in the yellow 69 with sidepipes and Gordon with the red LT1 convertible with black vinyl hardtop.
Anyway, I did notice that your upper radiator hose was severely collapsed and I even mentioned it to Gordon or Mike. But it was so obvious I didnt think you needed it pointed out to you. That is reeeeeal strange that you didnt notice and now I am sorry I didnt ask you about it. MJ
