Default Hey Lars

I'm looking to buy a new carb and I was wondering if you had any for sell, or if I bought one how much it would cost for you to tweak it or what not. I'm kind of new to carbs and just about everything, but I'm learning quickly, thanks bud.

Beau -
Great project you have going there - good to see guys like you getting into these cars!
I don't have any complete carbs for sale. I have a BUNCH of junk carbs that I use as "donor" carbs when i rebuild Forum Q-Jets that are missing parts, but nothing that could be sold as complete and usable. If you find a rebuildable Q-Jet of the correct vintage for your car, I'll be more than glad to rebuild it and set it up for you, or I can help you do it yourself if you'd like. Just let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Hi Beau..

I have an original carb from a '75 vette, # 17045210, YL 038.
It's has sat on a shelf in my basement for about 23 years.
It was working fine when removed. By now it will need a Lars treatment
before you could use it. I can provide pictures.
Let me know if you have any interest.

Regards
Barry

Thanks for the offer but I'm not really looking to go original. I need performance ;)

That's the reason this carb. was removed in the first place.

Nothing wrong with a Q-Jet for performance if set up right. Q-Jets can easily feed 500+ HP big blocks. Lars runs a Q-Jet powered 12 sec GTO.

He also helped me tune my carb. Guesstimate 250-275 HP with my mods and 18-20 mpg on the highway. This is an unrebuilt L-48 that shows 65K miles (probably 165K)

All it takes to modify a stock Q-Jet (which will flow 750 cfm) is a few jetting changes, maybe tweak the power piston spring and adjust the secondary air valve. I highly suggest you read Lar's "How to tune a Q-Jet" paper over at http://www.corvettefaq.com .

Wait, what was the stock carb for a 75? I was declining Barry's offer not lars. Sorry I know nothing about my stock configuration.

Actually I may be interested Barry, how much did you want for the carb.? (It's a quadrajet correct?) I'd love to see the pictures, send them to mrbeaubo@home.com. Lars, how much would you charge to rebuild this carb. for me? I'm trying to see how much the two combined would cost.

$100 plus return shipping on the basic rebuild and setup. This includes a good quality kit, new NitroFill float, and new filter. My cost on any other required parts if needed. E-mail me if you'd like detailed info....

Beau..
Since it is a numbers matching carb for a '75, I think $200.00 U.S.
would be a fair price.
I'll send you the pictures in a few minutes.

I may have a Holley Avenger 670 CFM for sale soon.

Only 3 months old and about 1000 miles. I am waiting for my QJet to get new bushings, then it's going to go to Lars or a local guy for the final touches.

I the QJet out does the Holley, then the Holley will be available.
I will be selling the Holley with the jet assortment pack ($30) for $280 shipped.
I will know before X-mas, if you can wait that long.

Awsome carb, but I cant run the stock dual cold air intake air filter with it :(

And part of the air cleaner setup is one of my radiator seals, so I need it in place.
