After drilling out the previously filled in holes for the 427 emblems on my hood, I found that they were horribly out of allignment, it looked like the numbers were put on by a 5 year old after placing the numbers in the holes. I ended up filling them back in with some glazing putty.

Does anyone have a template for drilling the holes in the right place? I think one of the previous owners of this hood eyballed the drilling of the holes and horribly screwed it up. This is an aftermarket hood, so the holes aren't pre-drilled.

can someone PRETTY please give me the measurements of your 427 emblems on your hood? I'll be your best friend!! I Basically just need the spacing between the numbers and the approximate location on the hood.

O.K. hold on Steve... I"m trying to find them in my Assembly manual!! I have seen them , still looking. If I can't find them I'll measure them on my car.

O.K. The front edge of the 4 (left side) or the 7 (right side) is in line with the rear edge of the scoop trim insert. The numerals are 1.75" apart on centerlines of each numeral. They are 1.00" down from the scoop's top edge. :cheers:

I know this is on an L-88 hood, but I was kind of expecting the numbers to be like this.

Did you find the measurments in the AIM? I looked in mine and couldn't find the measurements, what page did you find them on?

Steve... I couldn't find them either so I measured mine. It is an original 427 car that Bubba didn't get a chance to work on. O.K..... Well maybe he just got to a few small things but for the most part he left my car alone.

Sorry to hear it! No biggie, I drilled the holes tonight and the emblems wer positioned perfectly. After some more block sanding I'll have it ready to paint, probably sometime this week.
