I was told a while ago that I could use a police package tailshaft housing on a 700r4 to bolt directly in the place of a th400?
Anyone know about this?

GM made an extension housing for the 700 Part number 8673406 that bolted in place of the original tail stock and it had a mounting pad that was in the same location as the 400. It didn't require movement of the crossmember but only a little fileing of the holes to make it fit. I bought one 4 or 5 years ago and it was very reasonable. I think it has gone up dramatically in price in the last few years.
