to have a daily driver and still be a nice show car? i want my engine bay and suspension parts to look nice, but i drive my car year round. is it worth the effort to spend alot of time on the parts, i mean, willll they be hard to clean before shows? thanks

Have at it if its what ya want, but how are a gonna hide the "road rash" in the paint & the bugs in the radiator......True show cars are just that, certainly not daily drivers...unless you have much more time on your hands than I do........

1. Is it possible to have a daily driver and still be a nice show car?
2. Is it worth the effort to spend a lot of time on the parts?
3. Will they be hard to clean before shows?

All the shows I have gone to this year, I have had to drive 200-500 miles one-way to attend. Do I bother to pop my hood? No way ... I just go to the shows to be with other Vette people. And I am always proud that my 30 year old Vette has made the drive and not towed on a trailer. Afterall, driving the Vette is the whole idea of owning it.

I just did my engine and front end. Its much easier to keep it clean (and want to) after you have done it right once. If you're going to take the a-arms and everything off, have them powdercoated!!! I painted mine, and regret it.

You won't be able to have 100% of both worlds (show car and driver) One will eventually win out over the other.
Just my $.02, YMMV.

its a blast...
note -as to *stuff* in radiator....place a small fine chicken wire type mesh across front of radiator...then remove it when at a *car hop* or show....

thanks guys, im going to redo the suspension, rebuild the engine, and i want to detail the engine bay, not be really **** about it, just where its smooth, and all the paint and stuff matches...i wanna do braided hoses and that blue colored, as ricey as it may be, wire loom.

I think its possible....just a lot of hard work. And seriously, all car shows around here are in parking lots...even if your suspension has 1 grain of dirt on it...who the hell will notice? I say if you buy yourself a high pressure system and clean your car everyday, its gonna shine like a showcar all the time.

OK... one more post in this thread! :mad :mad :mad
Do you know what chaps my butt ? A new C5 wins cleanest car or something similar. How hard is it to present a clean car that was built two months ago, rather than 30 years ago?

you have a nice point, they should be in another class....
there is nothing really to get dirty on those cars, most is plastic, which a rag will clean up
