Starting the Stripping Tomorrow - Couple Questions
I'm going to dive into the stripping tomorrow and I have a couple of questions.
First of all, is there anything I should do before throwing the stripper on there? Should I use something like simple green (will that work) on the car to degrease it and get any silicons off of the paint? What else should I look out for or do before hand? Thanks.

My experience with stripping is over 20 years ago, but the chemical remover is so strong that I wouldn't worry about prepping anything. The thing that I spent time on was preparing to catch the inevitable runs and drips of chemical and paint headed for the floor, etc.

By the way, Beau, congratulations on tackling this job and everything else you've done to your car. Diving in the deep end at 15 years of age is remarkable and a credit to you.
When I think what some 15 year-olds are up to tonight....well good for you!

Thanks very much, I couldn't do it all without the help of my older brother! He's the brains behind the operation!

Do you know if this car has ever been repaired with bondo or fiberglass ?
If it has you will end up digging out the putty or fiberglass from the repaired areas after you use stripper, unless they were jell coated over. The stripper will be absorbed into the unjelled areas and will cause you headaches when it comes time to spray your color. You know not to use stripper on any of the plastic areas (Bumpers) After you strip the car make sure you clean and rinse the car EXTREMELY WELL. I have used strippers before and they can cause lots of problems if not used properly. Good luck and keep us posted.

Be careful how you use that stripper, impatience will cost you. Everyone I've known that has done that has told me you need to do a small spot then rinse it real well. It can soak into the fiberglass and come back through the paint later. Myself, I'd use a blaster to remove. you can pick the right material to take the paint off and no worries about bleed through later.

I'll second that about Blasting. Had my vette media (small beads aof plastic) blasted. Cost me a couple of days time and $525.00.
I know... I know... You other guys are saying that I could have saved $525, but I thought it was well worth it. No Mess... No 1000 hrs of work...... and No chance of bleeding thru like keytech mentioned.
