Who Insures Your Collectable Car?
hello all,
Ok being a first time buyer of a collector car. Who does everyone have insurance with....I just called USAA and they gave me a quote of 292 a year and I can only put 2500 miles a year on it......Is this normal? who does everyone else have thiers insured with?? All kinds of new things with these older vehicles.

on my 1963 Z06 insured for $200,000 at just a little over $1000/year, with no deductible, towing, and all the other stuff through ACI- which is probably who USAA recommended/gave quote from - and, yes have 2500 mile/year restriction and have to "authenticate" mileage each year at renewal

I can tell you I have been with USAA insurance for about 17 years. They DO NOT insure classic or collectible automobiles...Why? Apparently, a menber (nimrod) was driving his classic (and rare) Ferrari EVERYDAY to his job. Parked it on the side of the road someone hit and DESTROYED it and USAA paided alot of monies out to this particular menber. After they settled the claim, they dont insure classic cars they redirect you to American collector insurance..
I do use them...I have never heard anything negative about them..

St. Farm, I have never had a claim for either Vette in 40 years, but I dont put many miles on them either. They do have some restrictions and they ask me for mileage every once in awhile. Whoever you use HAVE your car appraised so everyone is looking at the same page if there is a claim.

5 cars with Haggerty. One claim, paid instantly. Never been asked for mileage after initially insuring each. With 5 cars I'm lucky to get 1k miles a year on each - sometimes I don't !

Great rates, agreed upon value - no strict mileage limitations.
I think I pay $292/year for $50,000 agreed value...full coverage including inflation protection.

Anyway, I use them and have had no issues or complaints. They have a 2,500 mile limit but I have never submitted anything to validate that (though I do not even approach that limit). 2500 is actually a lot of miles unless you have some major road trips planned.

Both of our antique cars are with Hagerty. I've never had any claims, so I cannot say how they would be to work with there, but their pricing is competetive and they have been very professional and prompt in handling all inquiries I've had.
My dad has his Model A Fords with them as well.
