Congratulations Mark Shaw on the Pro 8 Shootout Championship
We had a fantastic finish to the 2007 Po 8 Shootout season. Mark and Bill Maloney came in 2 and 1 in the points and the one that went the furtherest would leave with the Championship.
Three cars qualified and Maloney was first so he got a single. Shaw would have to earn his spot in the final round for a shot at the Championship taking out Eddie Monari in the Mike Conway C5.
In the final, Maloney blew the tires way in the 8.54 qualified Corvette and Shaw took his Corvette into the 8's (for the first time right?) with an 8.932 at 152.78 for the event win and the championship.
Thanks to all who participated in 2007. We will see you all next year.

Great job, Mark. I'm very happy for you. You are a great driver and a class act! I wish you the best next season.
Nice going, Billy. Your car is very impressive.

What a day!
First, congratulations to Bill on the runner up. As I have said all along, Bill was the driver and the car to beat all season. I applaud his competitive spirit as evidenced by his change in plans to skip a big time opportunity at the HBO comedy festival in Vegas and join us for the last Pro 8. It was unfortunate that his car had a gremlin in the ignition box that prevented his usual 8.5X consistency. Without the gremlin we may have had different results. Bill and his Dad are 1st class.
Second, the track was in excellent shape. Great job by the RP crew!
Third, my thanks to Edgar for his fine work overseeing all the classes, but especially the Pro 8. As Edgar will tell you, we aren't the tamest bunch to deal with.:o Thanks to The Vette Doctors, Carroll's Rod and Racecraft, PM Construction and Maintenance, Marchese Homes and Lucid Diagnostic Imaging Services for sponsoring this series. It doesn't happen without your support.
As always, I need to give a big to son and crew chief Ben. He's always there for me and provides the motivation to "Git 'er done". More to my friend Mike Conway. Mike has been an great ally and competitor over the last 4 years. He's got a great ride that Eddie nearly had in the 8's yesterday. (Great job Eddie). Mike loaned me his car in the 2nd Pro 8 this year when I detonated mine in the 1st qualifier. A class move by a class guy. Next year Mike and Eddie are both going to be forces to reckon with in the Pro 8.
Yesterday my car was right on. Despite backing off on the power due to the cold track tempature the first run gave me my 1st 8 second timeslip with an 8.952. (I could of gone home a very happy camper right there ). The second run was an identical 8.952. The 1st elimination against Mike's car gave me a 9.008 and the 60' was a little off. The final against Bill gave me an 8.932 @ 152.78. Couple that with a 1.300 60' and I had a personal best. Sixty foots were good all day starting with a 1.34, then a 1.32 and finally the 1.30. The car was leaving good like it had some place to go.
This is the first time in 2 years that I've even had a car at this point in the season. The last couple of years saw blown motors in the early fall. Now I can put it away and look forward to having it ready for the 1st race next year.
Have a great Thanksgiving.

Congrats Mark
Despite coming into the season as a prohibitive underdog, you got the job dine. You're a class act and your car looks and runs beautiful. Who knows, maybe we'll have a full field next season.
Congrats to you and ben.......and to Bill M on the r/u and to both the most committed award
