Default Antifreeze Smell

HI,Noticed yesterday when I had the vette out I took a few sharp turns very quickly>ANY OTHER WAY< and about 10 seconds later I smelled antifreeze. This happened after each turn.I do not see anything leaking from the car, hoses, or the radiator.I was wondering if it could be the heater core. Thanks for your input>STW< Frank :flag

My 1980 ALWAYS sprays antifreeze out of the overflow container on to everthing when I autocross / corner heavily.

Pisses me off !!

I will be switching to a better container very soon.

In fact, when I autocross, I take a plastic bag (ziploc / baggie) and put it between the cap and the container -- it helps, but make sure you don't blow the cap or the hose off !! Small pinholes in bag help.

Chances are it is nothing but a quick pressure check will reveal if there is a leak or hole somewhere. Put it under pressure and see if it holds pressure. If it does you are on your way.

i had that problem on my 73 and there was also some leaking through the vents at the floor. i assumed it was the core and just by-passed the core. i never used the heater anyway and it is a pretty $$$$ fix i think...

Generally, if your heater core is leaking, you'll eventually see some antifreeze in the passenger footwell area. You may also smell coolant after having your defroster on for awhile. I replaced mine five or six years ago and it really wasn't that difficult. (although I didn't have air-conditioning) Patience is the key.
