Rear Window Tray Question
I picked up a rear window tray recently.
I've never seen how its installed in other 68-69's.
Is there some type of brackets that go on the back wall area that attach to the hinges that hold the tray in place with the 8 machine screws?
If so any idea where to purchase on or fabricate?

Re: Rear Window Tray Question (Ed T)
There are two mounting brackets up on the back wall of the storage area. I hope your back is feeling better before you go crawling up inside there to mount them! I have my tray out right now, and I can try to take some pics of them tomorrow afternoon if it would help. They look like..... ummmm two trangles with a hole in the center (if that makes any sence). You Might be able to pick up a set at Contemporary Corvette. Give them a buzz.
If I recall they are rivited in place (with some damn big rivits, BTW), so I'm not sure how you should go about mounting them. The Rivits go through the wall to the area right in front of the gas tank. I think You'll have to be very determined and part contortionist to get them in the right position!
I'll try to shoot a couple of pics for you tomorrow afternoon!

Hey Joe.... Did you ever find that pillow???

Re: Rear Window Tray Question (69er)
There are two backing plates (one on each side) riveted to the rear vertical panel in the storage area. These plates are on the outside of the car, but should still be easy to identify; just look for the two rivets... The mounting holes are between them.

Re: Rear Window Tray Question (69er)
On my 68 coupe, there are two plates mounted on the outside (gas tank side) of the rear vertical wall. Each plate has 4 machined thread holes in it to accept the small machine thread heax heads that hold the hinges in place, through the fiberglass from the interior. Each hinge has a springloaded arm on it that attaches to the rear window tray and allows it to pivot and also drop slightly to get clearance for the window.
I have mine out right now as I was refinishing the hinges and the tray.
Finding that black flocking material in any large quantity has been the challenge.
I would try Paragon, Zip or Dr. Rebuild for the hinges.

Re: Rear Window Tray Question (69er)
Thanks alot guys.
I have the hinges, they're on the tray.
I'll have to find the holes through the rug or pull down the rug to see them.
If the brackets are riveted they should be there.
Mike,didn't get the pillar yet.
I'll get it in the spring.
