Chambered exhaust "alarmed" a mini-van. Heh, heh, heh
My wife and I went to Circuit City on Friday evening to pick up a couple movies and when we came back out to the 'vette, it was bracketed by a pick-up truck and a mini-van. When I fired up the small block, a horn started blowing and the lights on the van were flashing. We looked to see who was carrying on like this, and there was nobody in the van. The sounds from the chambered exhaust had set off the alarm system. We cracked up as I blipped the throttle and set it off again. I told my wife that van sounded scared enough to have leaked its transmission fluid all over the ground. As I pulled out of the parking slot, I "power-braked" the 'vette (it's automatic) and set the alarm off again just for fun. That's the second vehicle that I have been able to do that to. Any others out there that have the same fun? :blueangel:

More annoying than fun but every time I start or park either one of my cars the alarm on the little pos accord i park next to goes off. Especially annoying when i have to sit there and listen to it while i put my top up. Its stupid because its a old dented ugly accord parked next to my vette and a friends 2000 TA. Theres no point for it to have an alarm. Other than that the parking garage is fun in general and wehn i want to i can set of about 6 alarms on the way to my space.

When I'm bored I drive thru the parking lot at the mall. What a thrill!

Mine has an especially deep rumble, but is relatively quiet. Any time i drive through a parking garage the sound resonates so much that i set of most any car with an alarm.

The same thing happens to me once in awhile. Yes I must admit it’s more fun when it’s a ricers alarm going off.

My Vette is too quiet right now. However.....whenever i feel like setting off some alarms....(you pro-American machine guys may not like this...) i fire up my 1000cc RC-51 V-twin with SATO exhausts (puts most Harleys to shame sound wise...and power-wise- not even the same zip code :yesnod:) It almost gets annoying cruising around the streets (let alone parking lots) and hearing the alarms going off behind me. I can't believe that some of these exhausts are street leagal :D

i had a similar experience in the church parking lot last week. I don't think the owner of the other vehicle was too happy when they shut off their alarm and i revved the car up to try and set it off again1

Oh yeah! and i'm running a stock system with a deep humble.this happens so often,my car,Harleys, etc that no one notices the alarms going off.they might as well stop putting them in cars.

I too enjoy setting off alarms! My 78 had Borlas and they would set off a lot of alarms in a parking lot. I installed side pipes this summer and they are not as loud, but they will set off alarms. I cruise the parking lot at work occasionally just to set off the alarms. Don't take much to entertain me! Roger

That's the "yardstick" that I use to guage how loud a vehicle is :) My bike regularly sets off alarms, unless I'm really careful, but the Vette hasn't set any off (yet). Therefore my 2 1/2" dual system with Monza mufflers must be quiet  The next road along from mine is lined with cars, all fitted with alarms, and I occasionally use that road as a type of decibel meter - the more alarms that go off, then the louder the exhaust pipes (they even have the courtesy to flash their indicators as well for a visible indicator  ).

Yep...hehe :) I've set off a couple with the side pipes. I'm expecting to be able to set off some more whenever I run the big block on open header side pipes.

Yehaaw. I didn't realize there was so much of this fun being had. I think I will try that trick in the mall parking lot sometime. I found out that some of those alarms keep a tally of how many "attempts" were made on the vehicle, and then displays code or total somehow. Run those numbers up! YEAH!!!
