You can buy a harness that plugs in where the CD changer harness does that terminates in RCA/1/8 inch jack- that would be your "AUX"

First you should search this Forum - there you'll find a part number for the adaptor cord (I have forgotten it).

We do have an Electronics/Audio section of the forum where the answers to all the questions you have asked have been answered numerous times.

I did this, but needed 3 things:
1. COR-HAR harness - cable that connects to aux connection and goes to the back of the car (originally for the 12 CD changer)
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piecorhar.html

2. The GM10-AUX adapter to connect to the end of the COR-HAR harness http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piegm10aux.html

3. The Harmon-Kardon Drive+Play
http://www.harmankardon.com/drive-1/default_dp1.aspx

This was not too hard to install. Just needed to run the cables and make some simple electrical connections in the passenger footwell. If you plan to do this, I can give you more info.

My Vette came with the 12CD changer in the rear compartment. I had heard that all the Vettes are prewired for the CD changer whether it came with one or not, so possibly, their might be a connector in the center storage compartment in the rear of the car.

what you heard was partially incorrect.

the harness for the rear changer is in two segments.

The first segment is plugged into the back of the head unit and goes to the passenger footwell area. From about midway 1997 production run and then forward... this first segment of the harness was indeed installed in all C5's - whether they had the factory changer or not.

The second segment of the changer harness plugs into harness #1 at the passenger footwell area... and then is routed to the rear storage compartment. This second harness was never installed at the factory on C5's that were not ordered with the changer option.

So, a blanket statement of "pre-wired" is misleading. The "all C5's were pre-wired" aspect only covers the first harness segment.

If your C5 was not ordered with the optional CD changer, then segment #2 will not be there; you'll hafta purchase and install it yourself.

Try peripheralelectronics.com - they make Ipod interfaces for virtually every make vehicle. You have to remove the head unit and attach their cable. It's not that difficult as long as you have some interior trim removal instructions like is available from Vette Essentials. Not sure if you can order online - you may have to find a local vendor. I got mine through ebay some time ago.

In my Z06 I had to get a COR-HAR (the factory CD canger harness) and an GM-AUX10 adapter to plug into that harness and give me RCA jacks.

Pull the passenger side trim out and you can find the plug in the footwell area.

I use this to plug in my XM myfi radio and play it through the AUX on the factory head unit.

However the quality still sucks... this winter I'm installing a pioneer premier head unit w/ integragted XM.
