Default Need Wiring help ASAP Because I am an Idiot!

On top of the sterring colum there are 2 plug in connectors one is white the other is black, does anyone know the orientation that they go in? They sort of go in together. I didn't label them when I took them out, I put them in wrong the first time, and when my elbow hit the dimmer switch, the car started

Thanks Tom

I assume you are refering to your 1969. When you say two connectors on top of the column, you must be refering to the long turn signal switch electrical connector that is on the side of the column. It handles the turn signal, hazard warning, key buzzer and horn circuits. There may be two body connectors that snap into it. I think that they only go together one way. The black and pink wires at the end of the connector are for the key warning buzzer. The dimmer switch has nothing to do with any of this wiring in a 1969 Vette.

A dimmer switch was added to the steering column in 1977.

As I continue to think about your problem, I wonder if you are refering to the ignition switch wiring. In 1969 the ignition switch was moved on top of the column as an antitheft feature. I haven't had my column down for a while, but I think that there were two body connectors that snapped into the ignition switch. But I don't think that there is any way that the two connectors can be interchanged. Again, I can't figure out how the dimmer switch can have any affect on the ignition switch.

I don't know how I got them in wrong, but they were hard to get out, if I had hit the key the lights probably would have dimmed, I know the purple with white goes to the starter, this is a brang new wiring harness.
