3:55 WITH tH-400 OWNERS NEED ADVICE.
We ran our 70 vette at Englishtown yesterday and the best run through the 1/4 mile was 14.1 sec. with a fresh 355 ci. motor 3:08 rear and R.P.M. range of 1500-5800 solid lifter cam. I want to know what a change to 3:55's wil do to my 1/4 mile time and also what do you guys cruise at 70 mph, (rpms)
Thanks Spoke-

i was gunna ask the same thing about my car only with different gears 3.70s. I dont wanna kill gas mileage but i need more grunt off the line. my motor will spin till about 7 so gears wont hurt me in perf, i'm just wondering what I'll run at 70mph in drive.. i really dont want to change trannys to OD but if thats the only thing i can do to make it faster, then its a must.

My guess is the 3.55's might get you 4 tenths. The key is to lower the 60' time as much as possible. I tenth off the 60' will get you two tenths at the end of track. Launch it as hard as you can with minimal wheelspin. Are you running a stall convertor? Here's my expierence: I went from best 1/4mi E.T. of 14.4@96mph with th400 and 3.08's. I switched to 200r4 and 3.90's and did a best of 13.6@101mph. i was still passing through traps in 3rd gear. The only other change that was made, that would have benifited the car was removing the engine fan and a/c belt and going with electric fan only. Just my guess on you question.
