Default Put aside original block or use it for the rebuild?

I'm interested in building a 383 using with AFR 190's. My car now has the numbers matching block/heads/4spd tranny. The car was originally a 300hp car, which was the least desirable of the year. The question is whether is should use the original block for my 383 builup, or should I set it aside in case i ever wanted to make it a numbers matching car again for resale value. I cannot imagine myself ever selling this car, but then again I'm only 19 and you never know what might happen. I know that there are many quality blocks/shortblocks that are availible from GM, Motown etc, but they are also kind of expensive.
I'd appreciate any thoughts opinions to help me make desicion. Thanks

Your Vette is worth more to a majority of people if the original motor is in it or available. If you don’t think you’ll pop it then use it… just keep the stroker crank to yourself.

I'd get another block ( ok I did )
They're cheap, and you will mollest the origional block less.

Besides, if you throw a rod at the track on a replacement it's like oh poopie...if it's the origional, well....

Good call guys, i think i'm going to look for a good used block for my engine build-up. I did not even think of getting a used block. Where would you suggest i look for one?
Thanks

I would seriously look at a short block from PAW or some other mass producer.

Or at least a kit from summit and a block from a local machinest...

I would also get another block. You can buy a stroker short block for around 1,300 at a number of places. Just look in the mags at the major suppliers or do some internet searches. I ahve a speed-o-motive 383 stroker in mine.
