My winter project list, please critique.
Hi All,
First thing is a BIG THANKS to everyone here on the forum. Your help has been instrumental in getting to this point and beyond.
Here is the list of what I am doing this winter to the car. I will also link to the posts that I already have had on this subject.
In no particular order, just how I remember them:
1. VBP Spring 9 leaves 190 inch.
2. KYB Shocks (4).
3. PST Poly rear bushing set. (Spring pads, t-arms, rear-end and strut arm)
4. New T-Arms.
5. New 3.07 Rear-end.
6. Test Pipe (Don’t tell the pipe police).
7. New Rear Y-pipe.
8. DynoMax Mufflers.
9. Re-curve Kit.
10. New Carb (Not sure which one at this point).
11. VBP front spring (450 inch GT).
12. New bushings in front (rubber).
13. All the suspension bushings in the front.
14. Poly sway bar links and bushings.
15. Rebuilt steering system.
16. New tires (255 60R15)
17. New tranny gaskets and shift kit.
A special thanks to my wife Dawn for LETTING me do this. The short story is that I sold the racecar so I was not always working on the car. Bought the Vette to drive and enjoy not fix. Well that did not work out as planned but next year hopefully it will.

After a quick read-through, I came up with the following thoughts . . .
- Don't bother with 6 and 7. Go with a true dual exhaust system.
- How about some headers to go along with the above?
- How about a sway bar for out back?
- You are unlikely to improve on the Q-Jet. Perhaps a re-build is in order?
- A nice set of 17in wheels + some genuine high-perf rubber will REALLY wake up the handling.

Joe, I wish I had your budget for this winter. Sounds great. I'll be curious what carb you end up putting on over the winter. I think you'll be having more fun than I will, I have to redo a bathroom before I even begin on the vette and then there is that baby that's due in February. Rod

Your plan looks solid and one that won't break the bank. Your Vette should feel like a new one when your done.

Rod,
Dawn got a new Cherokee before I started on this project. I got lucky in that I sold the Camaro for way more than I bought the Vette for. And I talked Dawn into letting me spend the difference on upgrades.
Bathroom updates? From the few pics that I have seen of the house it looks like you have a homearama house. What’s to improve there or on the Vette?
I just reread you post. Baby in Feb, congrats!
