A.I.R. pump question
I am going to the drag strip tommorow and I was thinking, what if I took the belt for the air pump off... From what I understand, it should reduce engine drag and be lightly better as far as exhaust goes becuase not as much air is being forced through the already restrictive exhaust system. The thing is, I would have to drive to the track with that belt off and I was wondering if that will cause problems. Anyone have any ideas on this? Also, I would be interested in what all of you guys do to your cars to prep when you drag race...

I had my belt off for years, before totally removing the pump and all the plumbing when I put headers on it last year. I never had any problems, but unfortunately I didn't notice any difference with or without it. Maybe you will at the strip. Good luck!

Re: A.I.R. pump question (AD2VET)
alright cool, I thought it would be fine, but wasn't sure if any negative effects were there. So, I will be taking my fan clutch off tonight and getting rid of that belt... :smash: I'm not looking for a huge difference... just a little would be nice. Maybee about the same as turning the A/C off.

Recently took mine off and it wasn't a big difference for me either. Not nearly as much as A/C on/off but its extra weight if you remove it. :)
good luck
