Kenwood DNX7100 Backgrounds (Wallpaper)
So you just bought your new HU and might be looking to customize it. Well, here are some backgrounds I have made for my Kenwood DNX7100. If you have a pic that you want me to load or edit for you, just shoot me a PM. There are so many to choose from that the hard part is picking which one you want to use.
* Tip * - The only way to change your background is through the USB plug. When you do your installation, be sure to wire the USB cord to an easly accesible location (glove box, passenger footwell, center console, etc.)
Please post any that you have made! The optimal size should be (500x240).
Also keep in mind that the top 20% of the picture, gets covered up by the menus.
Directions to install onto your HU:
1) Right click on a couple of your favorite pics below.
2) Save the picture to your computer
3) Transfer them from your computer to a USB flash drive
4) Plug the flash drive into your HU
5) Go through your menu options to User Interface
6) Look at all of your pictures
7) The DNX7100 will save (3) of your favorite pics.
The Pioneer AVIC guys have some killer pics that you can use too! Here’s the link:

Resolution
Just curious as to where you came up with that resolution? In the manual it says 480 x 234, and I was planning to work on some images at that size. Of course, the unit is simply going to scale any image you give it, but I prefer getting as close to native resolution as I can for things like this.
Thanx.

With the smaller resolution as in the manual (480x234), the pic looked a little grainy. With resolutions larger than (500x240), the picture looked the same as the (500x240). But also keep in mind that with larger resolutions, the picture will also be a larger file. Thus, you are increasing the boot time (only by a few milliseconds) and also using more of the HU memory.
Also, the (500x240) resolution seems to be compatible with other brands of HU: (Pioneer, Eclipse, other Kenwood models, etc.)
If you find a resolution size that works a little better, please let me know.

One more question.
Is it possible to transfer an image to the DNX7100 by any means other than the USB cable?
I have an ip300v connected to the USB cable from the unit, and it's all buried in the dash, so there's no easy way for me to connect to that. And I put an image on the iPod and tried to get to it, but the button I need in the Setup -> User Interface menu aren't enabled.
I'm really hoping that there is another way. I tried an SD card, but no luck there either.
Options? (that don't include pulling my dash apart again!!! )

Unfortunately, the software was designed to only look at the USB cable when saving backgrounds. You can view pictures through the ipod, CD, DVD, etc. But the only way to change your background is through the USB.
