I think your threads are groovy, man! :yesnod: I'm 17 and I think we should all go back to the sixties because the music was better, the clothes were better, the cars were better, and everyone seemed a lot happier than they are now :spam
By the way, I love retro. I even set up the old record player so I could spin Beatles 45s. And if you ask me, 60s never went out of style :yesnod:

Man... that's how we ALL looked in the 60's. It was all about being different. It was a time when some of the most creative minds in the world were out there at work. You can see it in the clothes... here it in the music and some of it lives on today in these beautiful cars!
 I hope I live long enough to see that kind of creativity again.

To me it seems like no one was happy. ("Sedated" maybe...)
If you like the music so much go listen to the Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire. Maybe he can set you straight on all the happiness that existed.
At least you like Vettes...(you were right about the cars being better)

Don't bad mouth the sixties unless you were there! You can read all you want, but unless you were there, you don't know Diddley (as in Bo).
One thing to remember, it was the "Golden Age of Sex"! The pill just became popular and you didn't have to install latex to keep from getting a terminal disease.
Golden Age of Muscle cars, also. I had some great cars during those years.
And, no, I was not sedated during ALL of the sixties!

There was a lot of tension back in the '60's. I lived in the inner city then and vividly remember the "race riots" as the media called them. Very violent period.
There was a new awakening that was thought to be brought about by the drug culture. Unfortunately this was not an awakening but simply a psychosis brought about by the drugs themselves. Perceptions & ideals are swayed under the influence of drugs. Six guys I went to school with died of over-doses and a few more would up in prison on drug charges.
Me, I just tried to survive every day life and keep my nose to the grindstone. I had longer hair back then but could never be confused with a "hippie". I was more of a member of the "silent majority" and was more interested in the muscles cars and surviving college than the drug scene.

I was at a mates 40th b-day party on Sat night & 50% of us looked like that! There were none of those groovy chairs though
Too young to remember much of the 60's but I thought the 70's were
Good picture :)

My wife just made me get rid of one of those chairs man. I hung on to it all those years and she finally put her foot down. Course the chair was getting pretty ratty and I wouldn't let her put it in the garage it was that bad.

Life was slower, and cars were faster back then. Before the dawn of the electronics age people took their time, relaxed more, spent time with family, stoped to smell the roses so to speak! . I find that nowaday's, everyone is in a hurry. The pace of life now is twice that of the sixties. Kids were allowed to be "kids" back then. None of the sex, drugs, and gangs that influence the pre-teens of today. Morals and values were stronger, and kids respected adults more. People in general were respectfull and more considerate of each other too. Laws and punishment were tougher (not necessarily a good thing but a better deterrent than today) So the 60's were pretty  in my book

Hey fellas, have you heard the news?
You know that Annie's back in town?
It won't take long, just watch an' see,
All the fellas lay their money down.
Her style is new but the face's the same
As it was so long ago.
But from her eye is a different smile,
Like that of one who knows.
Well it's been ten years and maybe more
Since I first set eyes on you.
The best years of my life gone by,
Here I am alone 'n' blue.
Some people cry and some people die
By the wicked ways of love
But I just keep on rollin' along
With the grace from the Lord above.
People talkin' all around
'Bout the way you left me flat.
I don't care what the people say,
I know where their jive is at.
A-one thing I do have on my mind,
If you can clarify please do:
It's the way ya call me another guy's name
When I try to make love to you~ooh-yeah!
I try to make love, it ain't no use.
A-give it to me, a-give it!
Hmm-work so hard I couldn't unwind,
Get some money saved.
Abuse my love a thousand times
However hard I try.
Heartbreaker your time has come,
Can't take your evil ways.
Go away Heartbreak__er~ahhh.
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker, heart!
Ahhhhhhhh, my life story! :jester

There is a remarkable resemblance to Mr. J Page. 67HEAVEN is also the double of the mechanic at my local Triumph/BSA bike shop, who was servicing Jimmy Page's chop (from The Song Remains The Same) a couple of years ago. What's going on?!

Crazy dream ohh-ohh.
Anything I wanted to know,
Any place I needed to go.
Hear my song, now!
People don't you listen now?
Sing along, oh!
You don't know what you're missin' now.
Any little song that you know
Everything that's small has to grow
And it's all growin' yeah.
Push, push, eah-ahh.
Na-na-na-na-nah~ah~ah.
California sunlight,
Sweet Calcutta rain
Honolulu starbright
The song remains the sa__me.
Ooh~ooh Ooh~ooh-hohh-ohh.
Here we go!
Ahh.
People.
All of the night, all the night.
Are you, are you gonna do it now?
Are you gonna do it now?
Ooh-ee.
Sing out Hare Hare,
Ooh dance the Hoochie Koo.
City lights are oh so bright,
As we go slidin', slide,
slidin', slidin',
slidin', slidin',
slidin', slidin',
slide-ee-ahhh__.
Ahhh__.
:jester ;)
