5 point harness, and cross bar
guys, im thinking of putting 5 point harnesses in my car, well, id rather have 4, because the thought of the crotch belt really scares me...
anyways, a few of you have harnesses in your car, i was wondering how you mounted them, i dont really want to put in a roll bar, because i have speakers in the back, but my bud with a c4 has a cross bar and it says it can be used for seat belts.
can you guys help me out?
thanks

If your going to install harness belts, the crotch belt does have a function. I tried going with a 4 pt belt and found that when I tightened the shoulder straps, it would pull the whole belt upwards, and if your doing any physical driving the belts will work their way up without the crotch belt.
I know someone who had bought and installed a 5 pt harness "Y" style and drilled a hole in the floor and used an old circular saw blade as a backing plate under the floor. :)

Re: 5 point harness, and cross bar (mikeo)
Mikeo is right the 'crotch belt keeps the lap belts from being pulled up, It does also protect you from submarineing in a crash too, but I doubt you'd get hurt 'there' from it :)
I have a Simpson 5 point H type harness. I hooked the shoulder straps to the normal shoulder harness location. I know it's not as good as hooking it to the roll cage but it has GOT to be better than the 32 year old lap belt the car came with! And it works very well! I hooked the lap belts to the normal lap belt mounts too, and the sub belt I had to make an extender out of a piece of 1/8" x 2" steel...

The shoulder belts ( two of them ) have a metal bracket with a hole in the end. Put the stock shoulder harness bolt through the hole and through the stock mounting location. pretty simple. Oh, note that I don't have a shoulder harness on the car...
The sub belt extender is just a piece of metal about 12-18" long with two holes in it. The sub belt is bolted to the extender and the extenders other hole is for the outside seat belt attachment, which is under the seat in the middle...
