Default Found a spare that fits the tub and cheap!

If anyone needs a spare for their C2, check the junk yards for a Chevy S-10 under bed spare. The size is 155/90 x 16". Almost identical circumference as the 215/70 x 15". Just a tad larger and if you let just a tad air out, perfect!

Interesting find. Does the wheel clear the calipers?

Yep, I took it off my son's S-10. It also has disk brakes.

Ken, does the bolt pattern match the Corvettes, I think you say it does?

I've spent a lot of time looking for a rim, but have not had any success, tire not a problem.

Have you looked into or has anyone checked the new small spares in the newer cars.

Yes, 5 on 4 3/4" fits !

Diameter of 215/70x15=26.85" Spare 155/90x16=26.98" so let a tad of air out, perfect! And it is a skinny spare so no problem fitting in the tub.

I love it, I think on my scale of 10 this is a 4 not a 10 like my overheating problem, just one more item of the list.

I have gotten so much from this forum, I can never thank everyone enough.

I keep thinking I'm done.Thanks mucho

It's a 2001 but I am sure there are many years that have the same spare. His is the S-10 Extreme extended cab.

Ken, but Corvette 4 piston calipers "stick-out" and the later model single piston floating calipers do not. Have you actually had it on the car yet?

Here is another thread where forum member richbopp tried it on his car and says it fit. Could not find one at our local junk yard, but did find one on eBay for $25.00.

My son has a 2003 S-10 Extreme extended cab and his under bed spare fits mt 64 perfectly. I agree that a little leass air pressure makes it fit snug, but that's no big deal.

Anybody in central NJ (where he lives) want to see it give me a PM and you can meet him and see what it looks like.

Harry,

I am currently running 15" Craiger S/S wheels with 1/4 or 1/2 inch spacers so that the spokes do not hit the calipers. The S-10 16" wheel will clear by more than an inch and needs no spacers. If anyone wants a photo, I will take and email to you.

When I was restoring a '65 a few years back, I was given the following tip by a local Corvette Heaven guy: The "temporary" spare for a '78-'79-'80, etc., is a perfect fit for mid-years......both on the hub and in the tub. I went to a Corvette wrecking yard and found one that had never been out of the tub.

Ken: You were right on the money with the mini-spare. I found one on eBay for $25.00. It appears new and never has been on the ground. It fits perfectly! Clears the brake caliper with room to spare and fits in the spare tire tub. It's good to finally have a spare again. I have not had one since I installed the trailer hitch. The draw bar will only clear the tub when the short bolts are used.
Thanks again Ken!

Roy,

Glad you got one. I stole my son's off his S-10 as he has no place to keep it. He put air bags on his truck so no room for a spare. His loss, my gain
