Default Hood Question

Were the BB hoods the same through the years?
In other words, can I buy any year BB hood to fit my '71?
Thanks!

Just make sure it's a short hood that allows for your wiper door. I don't think the '74 (the last year for a BB) had a wiper door, but I'm not sure.

Just checked it out. 1972 was the last year for the wiper door, so you need a 1968-1972 BB hood. There were BB's in 73 and 74, but they had the longer style hood without the wiper door.

The '68-'72 big block/LT-1 hoods are the same. One size fits all with the exception of hood supports ('68 supports are different). L88 hoods are the same size dimensionally, but the rise is higher and they have the air box on the underside.

The 74 and 73 had the new rubberized front cap. When GM did this they eliminated the wiper doors. So a big block hood from 68-72 would work on a 71. The hoods used from 73 on would require the removal of the wiper door and metal grill. I personally have an L-88 hood from a 68 on my 71.

Sigforty -- which hood support did you use? The '68 or '69 up?
