Default Fan shroud

I have an '71 350cid auto trans. with air. My question is how do you get the fan shroud out to pull rad. I've taken both rad. hoses off and the two nuts at the bottom of shroud. The shroud is loose but it feels like something else is holding it from bottom. Thanks Ray.

The shroud may be tucked inside of the small lip on the edge of the radiator. Not sure about a 71, but there are bolts on the top of my 78 shroud also.

Maybe it is hanging on the a-arms?

There should be just the two bolts on the top and the two bolts on the bottom. Mabe the rubber edging is stuck to the radiator?

You really cant do it without damaging something, unless you do a few more operations. The best way is to remove the hood, remove the bolts on the radiator support and swing it frontward. This will give you room to remove the radiator and the shroud.

Now I know why I bought a digital camera; I can't remember anything

I thought that I loosened the shroud, removed the radiator, then removed the shroud.

I'm about 99% positive that I had to put the shroud in before I put the radiator back in.

My '77 could be different from your '71, but I left the hood on mine.

not sure why the shroud won't come out,but i believe from 74 on back you have to remove the hood the get the radiator out. i know someone with a 74 and that's what he told me. on my 79, i loosen the shroud, remove fan assembly, then the radiator, then the shroud. installation is just in reverse of removal.

The radiator should come out without removing the shroud. The radiator is in front of the core support and the shroud is behind the support. Unbolt the radiator mounts, disconnect the hoses and slide the radiator stright up and out. Will take two people to remove it, unless you are 7' 6" tall or have 6' arms.

I took the radiator out of my 71' and you don't have to take the hood off. It takes two people, one on each side. As I recall, I pulled the rad and fan shroud out together since the lower water inlet seems to get in the way of removing the rad w/o removing the shroud.

Thanks for all the feedback on the question. I have the hood off already because I pulled the engine. I'll take the Rad. loose and try pulling shroud with it. :D
