yep ... was my first ... my impression was all over the board, ... except for the cars up for judging, now they were very nice !!! Everything else was kinda standard fare. I did like the C1 (1957) with the LT-5 (ZR-1) engine ... that was pretty sweet

My first time there too...
yep....wait till I post some of the digital pics....
none of these cars see the road.....some had 24K all over the engines..
and WTF is up with all the NON-Corvette's there ? I thought maybe due to the lateness in the year ? maybe 30% of the cars were Vette's !
I thought it was 'VetteFEST ! not 'CarShow !'
-GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
but in May....MADISON, WI ....13+ acres of 'vettes.....thats where I'll be!

I went. I usually go to both the November and the MArch show, and this years show was the smallest I've seen in at least 4 years. I was talking to one of the vendors, and he said that the vendor count was down by over 40% for this show.
I did see one black '67 Chevelle over by the east wall for sale. They were asking $25,000 OBO, and I was real tempted...that car looked like a real muscle car. I'd make a nice garage companion for the Vette, but I
've got my heart set on a '69 Camaro first.

srry Paul......guess I was expecting a better turnout...
but everywhere I looked said 'vettefest......so I guess it had my hopes up to see .....'vettes.....web site had GREAT pictures of a SEA OF VETTES ....not what I encountered :mad .....
I love chevy's but wasn't geared to see 70% non-vettes.....
I guess after sitting through Chicago Traffic for 2.5 hrs :mad , parking and entry, $2.50 for a shot glass of soda :mad .....and to see maybe 150 cars , 70% non-vette.....
I see more streetable 'vettes at my local car hop on a weekly basis..... :jester
in a town of 200 people....I guess they come from - AFAR ? :yesnod:

Vettefest NOW known as "Chevy Vettefest" has become an overpriced waste of time (and i get there AND get in for FREE !) I go with a trans rebuilder who used to have 3or4 overpriced swap spaces and is now down to one swap spot and he does NOT return for sunday. The only car that interested me was the silver "continuation" Cheetah (basically an expensive kit car at $80K) the swap is getting smaller and the car show is getting bigger (shows you where the money is), there were MANY "big time" dealers who were a "NO SHOW". I sold absolutly NOTHING, and even WORSE saw nothing even worth asking the price of. You can "stick a fork in this one" it`s done!

Yep, I went for the second straight year and like the rest of you, was dissapointed in the number of Vette's there. As mentioned previously, it is called "Chevy Vette Fest", but the majority of the cars were not Vette's. There were some great cars there, along with some great Hooters Girls  I managed to pick up a 77 Shop Manual cheap, and a stero $30 cheaper than the catalog vendors. My favorite was a 65 or 67 (can't recall) Silver Pearl Vert. It gets my vote for best paint. Owner said 8K paint job :yesnod:
Ylose: I live in northern Illinois, keep me posted when that Madison WI event takes place. Sounds like a definate road trip for me!!
Monty: I saw that black 67 Chevelle

NO.. I wouldn't consider your expectations "too much". According to some of the owners and vendors there, this show has deteriorated over the years due to the promoters. They didn't go into detail other than to say it has lost it's popularity with car owners and vendors alike. Too bad.. years ago it was a great show... wonder if it's gonn-a continue? :seeya :seeya :seeya

The March show is usually better than the November show. You'll still see a high percentage of non Vette's in March though. I still like looking at the steel bodies. You can get as many useful tip's from them as the Vette guys. :)

I concur with redvetracr.....this is the second year in a row I went and was very disapponted, went really looking to buy a few special parts I have been wanting...not to many vettes and not too many vendors....the traffic was terrible and the $12 for parking was outragious.....I don't think I will be going back anytime soon.
