Did I Win or Not??
Went to test and tune today. Made 5 passes, 3 motor, 2 N2O. I failed to get a 7.999 motor pass again but I had two best N2O passes. One was against a Mustang. He ran a 7.306 to my 7.341 and got there first but he fouled with a -.170 reaction to my .068. Since it was test and tune and not a real race, did I win or lose?? Anyway that was my first best, my final pass was another best (still only a 125 shot) 60' times were "off the chain". Here is the breakdown:
Reaction: .068 .136
60' 1.524 1.509
330' 4.640 4.618
eighth 7.341 7.307
mph 90.54 90.91
I WILL get a 7.999 motor pass before the end of the year WITHOUT new parts, just tuning.

yea you won, dragracing, weather its a tune pass or not, its still a race. Its driver Vs driver, and he turned on the red eye...he lost...plus he has a mustang, those are the red lights of the automotive industry :)

You got him -- red light is immediate loss.

1st redlight loses. How much HP is your car putting out? Just wondering as I was thinking of the 700r4 and 3.7 rearend combo that seems to be doing so well for you. Also, what stall are you running and is it a lockup type?
Thanks

Definetly a WIN!
Good luck on achieving your 7.999 before the end of the year. I think that you will do it.
I guess I'm going to have to get my car up to the Kennedale TX drag strip to give it a try. It is an 1/8 mile track.
I sure would like to swap in some 3.73 gears while I have my 700R4 transmission out for rebuild. Based on your cars performance, that looks like a tasty combo. :yesnod:

Re: Did I Win or Not??
Did you talk about a race with this Mustang guy before hand? If not, I wouldn't consider it a "win". Maybe I am a lot different than everybody else, but I consider a test-n-tune race the same as a stoplight race. Both have to acknowledge that it IS a race. For instance, if I'm trying to nail down my 60 ft time, I don't care if I red light, or if I have a 1 sec reaction time.
So, my answer is yes - if it was an acknolwedged race and no - if not, but you did not lose either way :D

I say you won.
Nobody goes to the line not to do their best.
If you were trying to do your best and so was he (obviously by his red light) then it was a race and you won.
Way to go!

No, we just ended up together. Actually I wanted to race a friend in a low 7 second BB Camaro but it was so crowded the guy couldn't get us together.

Well, you see, what happened there is why I left dragracing some 35 years ago...too crowded, not enough runs, allways something delaying action....
breakage, lousey track conditions,....and then of course the red light thing...
which is fine for a professional, but for a guy with a car who is interested in the tech aspects, and not how lucky he gets on shaving a light....or how slow his reaction time is compared to anyone else....it's a loosing effort....
now consider the lack of tracks available, and you see why steet racing will be around forever....right rong or indifferant....

On the track, you won as a redlight is an automatic loss. But in bench raceing, you lost. Bench raceing is BSing, and since he had the better et he will always win, track conditions/red lights/etc are not considered.

Reaction time doesn’t mean anything when your running test n tune. The clock doesn't start until you cross the starting line. If your heads up racing and break out, like the mustang did, you win. The mustang false started.
mrvette-Luck has nothing to do with a good reaction time. It's takes still and practice. You need to take that awesome shark back out to the track again to blow the cobwebs out.
