Default HELP RATTLING HARD TOP

Man, I put the black vinyl hard top on the 69 the other day. That puppy looks cool as hell!!!!! However she rattles like an 84 Z-51. So, do they make anti-rattle hardtop kits. SOme kinda rubber to put under the top over the windshield and under the window on the back deck. This seems like it would help. ANY IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put mine on only for racing. It does rattle like crazy up front on the header. I have not really looked into this but you are not alone on this. It sounds like the top is going to slide off sometimes

Do yo have it bolted down at all the points? front latches, side bolts, rear bolts through the deck, and maybe a bolt in the centerof the window? Also check to be sure you have the bushings in the header for the pins to sit.

I just replaced those on my coupe, because the passenger side rattled on sharp bumps and it definantly made a difference.

I was thinking of getting one for my 72. Seems to me if they rattle that much something is not fastened properly. I drove a 62 with a hardtop and quiet as can be. Can believe there would be that much difference. Is the weatherstripping good?

Didn't know about to put nuts on the bolts through the back deck. Anyone know what size nut I should use. I am going to buy some non-corrosive rubber and make a really good seal for the header. I am missing a bushing on the left hand side. I will get a new one.
Thanks,
livin

Go easy and adjust the fit on the front latches. Run the latch bolts up a bit. You want them snug, but do not lay on them or you run the risk of breaking the paddles. When the fronts are snug, tighten the nuts on the two rear pins. If the rear weatherstrip has shrunk a bit over the years, you can add washers under the nuts for a better fit. :)
